What a waste of an iPod, in my opinion. When I had mine I had around 2000+ songs on it, and listened to it quite a bit throughout the day, everyday.

I use mine everyday in the car (RCA jack hookup). And I use it while I have a break between classes sometimes.

I always use it. I don't understand how I dealt with CDs before having one. It's a helluva lot more conveinient.

I buy about one CD a week when I can afford it so it starts to add up quickly after a few months.

I love my iPod and use it daily. I have just under 1000 songs plus a few audiobooks on my 20GB 4G (a Gratis original) but also use it as a portable HD to transfer files between home and work. My HDD is flaking now -- I get the clicks and freezes, and no amount of restores and GRM (Gravitational Repair Method) is working for very long, so I have my eye on the 80GB now. I will also buy the extended warranty on it, if I had done that with this one I could have had it fixed. The new HD will cost $100 if I replace it myself, but why put $100 into a 4GB 20GB HD when I can probably buy close to enough refs with that to get the 80GB. )

BTW is there any indication the HD's used on the 5G+ iPods are any more reliable? I hear of a LOT of these HD failures on 4G's.

A lot of people here already listen to a lot of the music I've recommended, but I'll just post the PMs I've sent.

-The Rapture, especially their new CD, "Pieces of the People We Love"

-Mew's CD "And the Glass Handed Kites"

-Modest Mouse's CD "Good News for People Who Love Bad News", unless you have already checked them out.

-Tool. Check out "AEnima", "Undertow", as well as "10,000 Days" and "Lateralus". "Opiate EP" is good if you like really, really angry Tool.

-All-Time Quarterback! is Death Cab's lead singer, solo

-OK Go

-Gnarls Barkley (not just Crazy, their CD is really good)

-The Format--one of my top 5 bands, ever. Download both of their CDs, "Interventions and Lullabies" and "Dog Problems"

-Elliot Smith, especially "Basement on a Hill"

-Pink Floyd. Favorite band of all time. Try Dark Side of the Moon and Wish You Were Here, if you like those, definitely listen to Animals and The Wall. The Wall changed my life.

I think I've maybe torrented one CD in my entire life. I only joined OiNK this week and all the other torrents offer terrible quality.

Plus, after having lost my music collection more than once, I like to have a physical backup of the music.

Thought I would chime in with a couple of my favorite bands...

Blue October - LOVE this band. Their from Texas, and not really that popular, but I think they're one of the most underrated bands right now. Songs to listen to "HRSA", "She's My Ride Home", "Overweight".

Muse - Prolly heard of them, but they make some amazing music. Their genre would be something like rock/electronic and a little classical mixed in. Songs to listen to "Hysteria" and "Knights of Cydonia"

Endochine - Another band from Texas. Kinda like Coldplay, but with more of an edge. Songs to listen to "A New Beginning", "Secret" and Stalker".

The Fray - Good if you like softer, pop kind of music. Songs to listen to "How To Save A Life", "Little House".

Jump, Little Children - The best comparison I can think of would be the Goo Goo Dolls, but still very unique. Songs to listen to "Cathedrals", "Mexico", and "Education".

Tool - I'm addicted to "Vicarious", and "The Pot".

[quotee6fa4326ea="jreeder"]Tool - I'm addicted to "Vicarious", and "The Pot".[/quotee6fa4326ea]

10,000 Days is probably their worst album. I still like it, but definitely check out Undertow and AEnima right now.

Especially these songs--Prison Sex, Hooker With a Penis, Forty Six & 2, Eulogy, Stinkfist, AEnima, Intolerance, Sober, Schism, Parabola, and, if you REALLY, REALLY like ANGRY Tool, check out "Jerk-Off" and the rest of the Opiate EP.

Aurelius

crossfade, staind, seether, dashboard, and switchfoot. i think those five bands account for around 200-250 songs on my ipod. crossfade's new album "falling away" is worth a look

i like muse a lot too. "butterflies and hurricanes" is a great song, hysteria is good too but i've overplayed it to the point that i can't stand it.

I don't even own an iPod...or any portable MP3 player...

I usually go for cash/paypal option....havent done site I couldn't do that...and if I do I'll sell it.

Cd's are the way I go...always have been and prolly always will.

I have never been a fan of iPod...I may eventually get one or a Blackberry or something similar to preserve my cd's...so long as my car cd player is iPod compatable...

Thinking about it...I could prolly fit all my 100-150 cd's onto a 20GB...and save all my cds in their cases....hmm....

Damn you people making me think about shit...

Tsmith10803

all I know, is that if you put the eq on bass booster, make all the songs on itunes 200% volume, and wear headphones that cover your whole ears (I use behind the head ones) the bass is great

I've about filled my 60GB Photo halfway. I actually wanted the 40GB one with the AV kit, but Gratis upgraded me. A couple of months later, the video one comes out, and they put it on the photo site. Argh.

I bet I'll have it filled in a few months though.

I hook up my nano to my car for on the way back and forth to school and I'm planning to occasionally listen to it when I have gaps in my classes in college.

Some of the bands I'm listening to right now ---

The Faint - Love their music, had them for a while now

Desaparecidos - Good if you want a little more fast paced rock/indie/a little punkish but not poppy punk.

Conor Oberst - I listen to a little bit of his stuff

Cursive - Not too much of their stuff but they have good songs. Check out "The Recluse" on their Ugly Organ album. They also have some good indie/rock stuff.

Sublime - Great music

Death Cab for Cutie

Modest Mouse

If anyone has this same kind of musical taste give me some more recommendations on other bands.

I listen to mine everyday when I am working (keeps me on track). I go to the public library and max out my card on CDs, just random stuff and throw it on the 'pod on shuffle. So I'll get some sorta set list like this

System of a Down
Vivaldi
Swedish A Capella music
British Brass Band Music
Luciano Berio (20th century composer)
Jane Siberry
Infected Mushroom
Asian Fusion groups

Anyhow, I never know quite what I am about to get. I haven't normalized the music yet either so I'll be listening to Barber's Adagio all soft and mellow and then some crazy Jewish Klezmer band will start wailing in my ear.

Silliness but fun.

I also have watched pretty much all of Season 2 of BSG on the bus.

motherfucker, i had a 60gb video ipod from train that lasted about 5 months, had to get it serviced, it wouldnt even turn on.

i got another one from 123stuff4free and have been using it for a couple months now and just the other day the hard drive started making major scratching noises, songs skipping, then yesterday it was hard locking and i have to reset it.

i treat the thing like gold, it has a protective skin, i transport it around in a padded lunch box compartment thing during rides in the car, then it gets placed under the seat, out of the sun, etc.

no running, never dropped them, etc.
