Got the [b66f127a6fd]Chocolate[/b66f127a6fd], and it's safe to say it's [b66f127a6fd]sweet.[/b66f127a6fd]

My laptop has bluetooth on it, and my phone has bluetooth now.....

So does that mean I can send like songs and stuff from my laptop to my phone?

I figured out how to connect the two via bluetooth, but now I can't figure out how to send stuff from laptop to phone via like file transfer.

I'm assuming you have Verizon, and the answer is no.

Verizon only allows BlueTooth to be used for the headsets.

Nope, I have an LG VX9800 and I can transfer mp3s,pictures,contacts,videos..etc.

OMW download bitpim http//www.bitpim.org its a program you can use to transfer files from your phone to your computer and vis versa. You can also edit system files and backup the OS on your phone. Be careful though, what your looking to do now is pretty basic and straght forword. But if you decide to do some more hacking to the OS on your phone its pretty easy to fuck it up bad. Make sure to backup your phones OS befour altering any system files. But for now you should be just fine.

I would recommend these forums for more information on cellphone hacking and using bitpim.

Fuck, JordanE beat me to Bitpim.

Anyways, be sure to sync your computer with the phone first and then goto Tools -> Call Settings -> PC Connections - > Bluetooth

This turns on your phone's connectivity to Bluetooth to bypass the OBEX-disabling the Verizon firmware does.

Now run Bitpim and it should detect your VX8500. Congratulations =D

Chocolate is a POS.....

Take it from a Telecom enthusiast... Stay the hell away from that phone. (Unless you just want to look good in front of people because your self-esteem is so low... In that case, it's the PERFECT phone for you). ;)

unknown uchiha

17-09-2006 18:37:24

It's a fashion phone. That's all it's designed as. Music is an adder and same for all other features. The Korean version is hotter, and again it's just designed for looks.

h3x

17-09-2006 18:38:40

Exactly. Phones and MP3 Players just don't mix. Look at the miserable failure of the ROKR phone for an example.

unknown uchiha

17-09-2006 18:40:28

ROKR was a POS to begin with. It was held down by Motorola firmware and a fugly design AND on top of that a VGA camera.

I got the phone because
a.) Yes, it looks good
b.) It was $50
c.) My phone broke, so I needed a new one ASAP
d.) I can hook it up to my car to play 2gb of music, and I only really listen to about 1gb of music (even though I have 30 /)
e.) Picture, Video, and Bluetooth......

That's all I need.

unknown uchiha

17-09-2006 19:45:05

Mine was $50 too with rebate. I couldn't resist that price either even though it was the US version.

double_d

17-09-2006 19:52:53

How did you guys get it for $50? Do you have to sign a new contract?

unknown uchiha

17-09-2006 19:58:51

2-year contract + third party dealership (i.e. Chinatown stuff).

Getting contracts/phones from Chinatown is THE way to go for the latest phones or stuff that's not even out in the states yet.

$150 before rebate
-$50 rebate

+$0 Razr (family plan)
-$50 rebate

= $150
-$100

Total = $50

OldManWrigley

17-09-2006 20:12:46

Yeah I got the new contract which knocked me down to $150, then I had a $100 new phone discount or something because it's been 2 years.....

So I got it for $50, but now I feel like I need to buy the damn thing they were trying to sell me for $100 which might be nice, but I don't have that cash right now

The ROKR is a terrible example for a phone/mp3 player combination. Ever seen the Nokia N91? Granted it's expensive because it has no U.S. carrier support it has an internal hard drive of 4GB and apparently, according to reviews, has excellent controls for music playback.

The battery life on the N91 isn't [i7cd7d725e6]horrible[/i7cd7d725e6], it's subpar. It's nowhere near as terrible as the battery on the 8801 which lasts a mere 3 to 4 hours of talk time, and in some instances even less; if I remember correctly.

Personally, I don't find the N91 to be all that bulky and from what I've heard it makes a decent media player; given the fact that it's also a phone of course. If I were to chose a phone with good media playing capabilities I would go with one of the walkman phones from Sony (ie. - the w810i) and just pick-up a large memory stick like a 2-4GB.

It really all depends on what you're looking for. Some people have a huge media collection that they like to take on the go that only a hard-drive based player like an iPod could do, but others don't mind just a few hundred songs - which is where a cell phone/mp3 player fusion could be handy.

The chocolate is a great phone. Especially if you like music. Get a wireless bluetooth headphones that have a microphone hidden in them, take calls, listen to music without even touching the phone. 2 gigs of music, doesn't break like certain motorola phones do every week.

The only downside of the chocolate is that it's harder to hack than motorola phones. But it's too damn sweet to turn down.

Ipods are just neat looking chocolates with more space and no calling, oh and I don't think they have the bluetooth wireless headset thing going for them either. U can even connect your chocolate to your radio just like an ipod.

Same price as my 8125 when it was released, and same as the 8525 when it was released, so it's not that bad. With my company discount, I can get it for $350 w/2-year contract. Less if I buy a data plan and use the MIR, but I don't do data plans -- I use WiFi or pay-as-you-go MediaNet.
