Is there any way to put ringtones on your cell phone that is not made by the Network (mines is Cingular). For example, you have a song that is not on the ringtone list on their site, could you upload or w/e the song to your phone? Thanks for ur help!

Yes. Get the phone USB cable + drivers for it. Download Bitpim. Use sound recorder to make clips of the songs you want. convert to mp3.

that's what I do for my LG from verizon anyway.

It depends on what kind of phone you have and if you have an included USB cable or not. There's various other ways to do it like bluetooth and infared, but unless your computer has either you'd have to buy a USB adapter of some kind to do that.

yes, if you have a phone with bluetooth/infrared and a computer with bluetooth/infrared, and your phone supports it, you can send a whole mp3 file. Or just edit it with a software to make it ringtone length.

You've already got your answer, but just to be a bit more specific If you have a Motorola phone, you'll need something like Mobile Phone Tools and the USB cable or a BT connection. MPT has an Audio Studio thing that lets you create, import, and edit ringtones and send them to the phone. I've used it on the last 7-8 Motorola phones we've had here in the house and it works quite well. Of course now I have a Cingular 8125, but I can just copy audio files to it in Windows Explorer while plugged in. )

I'm sure the other phones have something similar.

my laptop has a bluetooth button that would light up if it was enabled but i can't find any way of enabling it. do computers come without bluetooth/need an adapter?

if your laptop has a bluetooth button, i'm sure there is some way to activate it. Maybe control panel, or google it.

I've been searching like crazy. It's supposed to be an option under the Control Panel but it isnt there. I don't think I have it even though they gave me the button.

Bitpim only works on CDMA band phones (Sprint, Verizon, etc.) and is not compatible with GSM band (Cingular, T-Mobile).

The cable I bought off eBay for my LG Chocolate was worthless. I found a way to connect the LG Chocolate to my Mac with bitpim via Bluetooth, overriding the OBEX supression.
