I have a 5th gen video iPod (30GB), and when I try to upgrade to 1.2 firmware, I get this error every time

http/" alt=""/img225.imageshack.us/img="225/8684/ipodproblemgr1.png[" alt=""/imga09fe9d034]

I've tried a restore (got an error saying i could not restore) and reformatting it, but neither of these worked. Anyone else having this problem?

I must say I'm glad I didn't download this version yet.

i get the exact some error. i just declined to update cause i doubt it'll be anything important besides them implementing support for games i don't intend on buying from their store

check out the ilounge forums. Other people are having the same problem. Just wait it out, and I bet apple will fix it tomorrow or soon.

i am not liking the mp3 decoder in this new itunes.

It skips and shit, when i try to multitask.

Is there a way to mod it.

i figured it out,

firefox had had some kind of debug error, and itunes was getting pooped on as a result.

I found a solution if anyone else was having the same problem as me. Here's how to update your ipod

"When you try to update it wait and it will appear like the ipod is ejected, once this happens unplug it and plug it right back in.

It will stall for a few seconds and then start the update."

Hey on this update can you play games on the old 5th gen ipods? And is the search feature on there also? Or can you only do it on the new ipods?

Okay I just updated and bought some games and have had no problems. My only question is, where does the new updater save? its not on my "ipod" folder

Well, I'm certainly regretting it.

I only downloaded the thing because Apple has now given up on releasing seperate iPod updaters to upgrade firmware, and considering it's been a few months since the last one, I installed IT7 for new f/w.

Big mistake.

The backlash on the net about it right now is major (Called a "lemon" among other things) but surprisingly vague about the issues. Well the biggest one that everyone should be screaming about is the fact that the volume control is totally fucked up. Unless you set it to the highest setting, the audio sounds as if the equalizer has been set by a mental patient. Basically bass heavy, and treble free, yet still tinny. It can't be adjusted in any fashion, but for below...

The only way to play audio in iTunes 7 is to set it to full, and use your master volume control to adjust the output, which, of course, I don't like to do.

If not for the fact I play most audio through VLC, I'd do an immediate uninstall, and reinstall IT6, but I pretty much use it for iPod transfers and tagging, and expect they'll issue some patch (how can they not?), so I'll be leaving it as-is for now.

However, if you haven't upgraded yet, don't. It's a waste of time and reboot.

Here's a look at the iPod screen when it's connected in IT7 (Shows the updater)

The only problem I have had with the new firmware and itunes 7 is that when ever I try to connect to the music store I get an error; -3248.

Oh well, I guess I won't waste any more money on the iPod games. Vortex is awesome, though.

I can't even get it to install properly. When the status bar reads "registering modules" the installation hangs and then doesn't complete.

I looked at Task Manager to see what could be the problem and found that there were about three or four "msiexec.exe" open. If I ended a certain one, the installation would somehow complete.

But when I try to update my iPod to version 1.2 I get error 1413. Then, I can't even add new songs to iPod. It appears that the program is copying the songs and updating it, but nothing is really happening.

So basically I'm fucked. I'm switching back to the previous version until they fix all of this.

Hey. I found this. Hope it helps. All I know is that my installation of iTunes7 and updating my iPod to version 1.2 was flawless, except that iTunes doesn't tell you to unplug it and plug it back in to update it, even though iTunes says it's updated it.
