How do I hack another computer on a wired router?

I am at school and our school uses wonderful linksys befsr41 routers in the dorms.

One user is upping like crazy. I'm frequently kicked offline from what I'm doing and I'm always downloading at 2kb/sec (we're all on cable, yes my college is poor).

I know I can block his IP on the router. I do that already. How do I do something that really freaks him/her out? I can access the router fully myself (I know the IT services password).

Thanks in advance

Find him and knock on his door in full body armor wielding a sword and just shock

well he or she is using a computer name that's either a weird nickname, former owner, or dad's name.

well yeah...I assumed that much. I got a sweet mace (and Ma$e) and I'll bash his head in.

but yeah...anyone on the hacking?

Find your default gateway. Use a web browser and try to login to the router using some of the standard defaults. Other than that its not very easy...

Get some kind of remote desktop pc program that allows you control his mouse and actual computer from yours. You can open up notepad on his computer and start typing stuff.

report your colleges connection to their ISP. Once your network admin gets a call from the ISP he will ban all torrents, end of story.

logmein.com

I think you have to install it on hs computer also though

But also remember f-ing with someones computer like this could be grounds for suspension or expulsion. I'd report him to an RA or someone...

Why don't you just call the IT dept. and tell them someone is downloading constantly and they are clogging up the network. I'm sure they could look into if he's illegally downloading anything (which he probably is).

TryinToGetPaid

Or ask the IT department to set a cap for each person that uses the Internet. But if a whole college is on cable, that must be horrible...

goodness like the 12th post in the offtopic asking directions to or bragging about doing something illegal over the internet.

Ok...

1.) I worked for IT as a computer tech, all I did was repair viruses, clean spyware and prep computers for faculty. Yes, it would be easy to report them, but that's no fun.
2.) Like...8 of you said it's not that hard to access the router, or others suggested "cutting the cord" check out my initial post and read what I said.

oohh can you do that crap where it flips the screen in half or something

nobody2000

12-09-2006 17:48:01

that would be funny now

freaky1718

Why not just mess up his uploading speeds? Open up a torrent account and upload shit at all hours of the day to make his slow as shit and see what he does.

nobody2000

12-09-2006 19:10:55

because then my speed and everyone else on the router suffers

Aren't they already suffering? I'm sure if gets shitty speeds he will at least take a break from what he is doing, he's not going to keep uploading at 1.56 kb/s...

go with the logmein.com

try it out, open notepad and type some stuff!

type something along the lines of, if you dont stop abusing the internet i will come in there and kill you in you'r sleep.

anything's worth a try

nobody2000

I have no way of getting into his computer, or even knowing who "he" is.

irannaked

12-09-2006 19:19:36

well you said you know his computer name?

go around asking people if you can use there computer for a essay?

a little stealth work and look at there computer name, also bring a floppy with some random text on it so in a while you can say your done )

just look around, im sure there's plenty of way's to find it all out

i dont know what anything on this thread means, however i'm just gonna throw this out bc no one else has mentioned it

sometimes hacking can lead to dismissal from your university. So look it up in the student handbook online. Because that would suck if your university kicked you out for this.

i am just trying to help.

If they're that 'cheap' I highly doubt that a man in the middle won't work. In addition there won't be any logging.

Get a "security" distribution of Linux and either boot it off CD or install it.

Fire up some stuff like ettercap, inject some packets, drop packets and most importantly, sniff.

Sometimes you can just use logmein scout to push "logmein" installs over a network depending on the access to his/her computer you may/or maynot have

nobody2000

13-09-2006 05:25:12

thanks...i'll consider those options

The only thing I can think of is shutting off his connection port. I don't know how sophisticated the router is, but here at Purdue we can enable and disable ports on routers running IOS through SHH.

nobody2000

13-09-2006 10:33:47

I do that now, it's just that I want to freak him out...like...put on a popup message that says "Please come to ITS to discuss your downloading of copyrighted content"

This thread makes me lol a little bit. logme in is an awful idea because it needs to link back to an account to be accessable. Look to VNC and ways to remotley push VNC out to computers, if you want to remote control someone...

Get his IP and MAC address then use some sniffers, grab his traffic, find his passwords and steal his identity.

Or just report him... Probably the best option.
