To a handful of people, it will be overlooked, as a disappointing site set up for failure against the huge competition, but those few overlook the main point of this site. It is for the students, by the students, and it has sprung up from scratch in only one week by a handful of college students. It will soon contain most features of the Facebook plus others that students will find useful...

It is a democratic based site. If people want changes, they will get them.

Right now, people want privacy, so this site is built around encryption of traffic, information, and privacy controls. The site promises a myriad of new features and reports that it has been coded from scratch by a small team of students with background in webdesign/graphics/systems management. It is pretty incredible to think that all of this has been done by a staff that grew from 1 to 8 in a week. Sounds like a lot of RedBull to me.

Anyways, I signed up, give it a look, and if you're as interested as I am in a student-run replacement for a disrespectful company, then consider joining and signing up. It is still developing, but you will quickly notice changes as their developers seem to be working around the clock. Sign your school up, show some pride for your football team, be the first to sign up for them because this site actually cares about me, and you.

Well, i saw that and i understand what appears to be going on. Facebook messed up last week-bad, they looked like idiots and now they're trying to over-compensate for what they've done.

Actually facebook is turning itself into myspace, they are opening the doors to just about everyone in 2 weeks. This site is a replacement, so that you don't have to talk to a 13 year old girl pretending to be Madonna when you really want a social network for college (and the occasional high school buddy).

I think Facebook is selling out bigtime

Whats wrong in making it public?

it was intented for college. They are selling themselves out in my opinion. They want a larger base like MySpace so they are destroying the intended purpose of the site "College Networking Site." I think adding high school was kind of a stretch, but to let anyone on now. Do you really want to see results of a little kid faking a profile when you search for your friend "Brian" (or any other name). I can usually find the person I am looking for fast. Part of a name and a picture, that's all you need really. Opening up the userbase to everyone, will crowd the site with unwanted users, creeps, stalkers, people.

That's just my take, I'm curious for more of your opinions. Let's hear from everyone...

Now I see what your saying and man thats like selling out bigtime. If people wanted that they would just myspace it no use it making 2 because thats what looks like is going to happen.

Cool, thanks for the share Bentley. Anyone else have an opinion on this privacy, and selling out thing?

facebook is going public by adding "geographic regions", however, people in different "geographic regions" will not be able to search for or view the profiles of people who are in the college part of facebook.

So you don't have to worry about a 13 year old pretending to be Madonna, because she doesn't have a .eduurl==http://=http:///url email and she won't be able to connect to your school's facebook network.

and you can just easily setup privacy settings to make sure you take out whoever you dont want seeing your profile.

My guess Every time this site makes some change that could potentially make it a facebook competitor, Facebook will just make the same changes to its site.
