Okay i watched the movie and thought that it was really well done (I never played the video game though). The only thing that my friends and I were debating over was where did the majority of the movie take place. Was it in like a different dimension? I dont really understand, it seems like it was 2 different places. When the alarm went off and the darkness came-what was it? Any help would be great.
Oh and at the end, where were they...in hell?

Bingo. Kinda like two planes of existance, only viewable to "special" others. (I saw the movie, but missed the last 10 minutes of it).

okay so do they never get out of the dimension because that is what it looks like at the end of the movie. Are they actually dead? I think so because her husband felt her presence throughout the movie.

Never saw the end...so I can't explain that part. But, I cannot figure out like you said, if they're dead, or if they somehow got transferred to another plane of existance.

what i think is, that theres two deminsions. The real world, and somewhat a dream world.
when he was feeling her presense, it was cuz they were at the same point in the both dimensions, so i think his "sixth" sense kicked in.
makes sence?

Not dimensions. They're different planes of existance. Therefore, when they're near eachother, the woman's husband was able to sense her.

yeah but how did she get to that place of existance? Did she die? Or what
silent hill is purgatory. its not really life or death
Rose, Sharon, and Cybil all 'died' on the way into town. In the end Rose and Sharon (who has been taken over by Alessa allegedly) are still in purgatory.
Also, the movie is based very loosely on the games.
