Congrats on beating the Detroit Lions by a field goal ;) Coming from where the Lions have been in the past 5 years especially, I'm pretty happy with how the game turned out. A win would have been nice, but for the Lions to keep the Seahawks in check all game long is really encouraging. I sure hope that means we're finally starting to turn this thing around. I've loved the Lions as long as I can remember, so it would be nice for them to finally return some love.

And by the way, THANK YOU LIONS for drafting Ernie Sims. I'm glad you got this one right.

Despite the Niners losing, I'm pretty happy with the way they played. Frank Gore was a beast and Alex Smith looked like a real NFL quarterback. They actually had a chance of winning for the first time in a long time. Yes, I know Arizona is another crap team but still, entertaining football is still good.

Ok, this is a football related question..

I know the horse collar tackle was banned in NFL, but what about the NCAA? I have a reason for asking, I promise. D

TryinToGetPaid

12-09-2006 07:51:11

You can tackle by the collar. I think on a NCAA game, or maybe it was even NFL, they threw a flag for face mask, but then said no flag, because he grabbed his collar and hot his face mask.

jadem

12-09-2006 08:02:41

In the Purdue game, the called this a face mask

http//graphics.fansonly.com/photos/schools/pur/sports/m-footbl/auto_player/614830.jpeg

And the penalty stood. Miami OH gained a first down, and scored a touchdown as a result. We still won, but I was soooo mad about that call. The entire stadium went NUTS!

Horsecollar tackles are legal in the NCAA, but not in the NFL (the stipulation is that it is only illegal if it immediately brings the player down, and the player is in the open field). Either way...if they have long enough hair...just grab that )
