I listed my iPod yesterday and like five hours later someone did a BIN for $250.

The guy joined yesterday and obviously has 0 feedback.

Should I be worried? He hasn't paid yet, either. ?

I think you should retract his bid, repost, and note that you will have to require 0-feedback members to contact you beforehand to "qualify".

I think this time around I'll just try Craigslist.

I hate selling things online.

do buy it now with immediate payment, it'll avoid messages like

DEAR SELLER,
I AM PRINCE ALIJABAB OF THE DEMOCRATIC REPUBLIC OF CONGO. MY FATHER THE KING IS HAVING A BIRTHDAY PARTY NEXT WEEK. PLEASE SEND EXPEDITED AND I WILL SEND YOU MONEY AFTER.

Personally, when I get this message, I can't send my P-P-Powerbook soon enough!

How do you set it up for immediate payment?

Anyway, I've listed it on craigslist for $260 or best offer. How long does this sort of thing usually take for a response?

J4320 had this happen like 3 times on the same 60gb iPod, except for the people would do "Buy It Now" and he kept having to relist it, that really sucks.

Yeah that did happen to me. I made a post on here somewhere about it too. You just have to keep relisting it or change your auction to only let certain members buy/bid.

I ended up just taking off the Buy It Now feature and someone won it and paid me and we had a good transaction.

restrict bidders with zero feedback.

All good ideas. Will do; thanks.

you can
1) restrict bidders with zero feedback
2) require instant payment on your auction
3) set paypal to accept payment from confirmed addresses only

any time i'm selling electronics on ebay i use that strategy and while I don't get quite as much $ as i might, i think the $20 difference is worth the peace of mind.

Unfortunately, I don't know how to do any of that. /

thoes are part of the questions/options eBay gives you on their seller's form you fill out about the item.
