So, I think I broke my mac. (

I was plugging in headphones into the back of my mac mini and while I was in the process of getting the plug into the headphones jack, my mini simply powered off. Ever since then, I haven't been able to power it on. Does anyone know what could have caused this? Also, what can I do to fix this issue?

I recently purchased this computer off ebay (I have the original reciept) and just my luck that the warranty expired 2 weeks ago on it. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Joe

Uhh...was it new? Or did you buy it in an auction?

Open it up, (since the warrenty is already out of use), and check to make sure everything is securely in its place, and that nothing is loose.

I'm not saying that putting your headphones in the jack caused this, but it may have moved something. I don't know. P

And give it some Bawls Energy Drinks. D

Unless you know what you're doing, you won't know what to look for if you open it up anyway.

Contact the seller and ask him if this is a recurring problem, or if you can return it.

Or use a friend's serial number (from a Mini that's still under warranty) and call tech support and hope the problem can be fixed over the phone.

Is it still possible to buy an extended AppleCare warranty now? Or will that not work since my current warranty has expired?

Make sure your monitor is on.

This is a bad bad BAD idea. Please don't put any sort of drink or food or item like that in your mac mini. It may break. I hope it's not too late!

seriously tho...if the power cable/power supply are intact and in working order, maybe a funny grounding issue or short occurred with the headphones jack.

Methinks you'll get it working, and then it'll crap out on and off again, and you'll want to sell it on ebay.
