[quote456c326921]JUNEAU, Alaska — Federal agents raided the offices of at least six Alaska lawmakers Thursday in an investigation of a large oil-field-services company, officials said.

Among the offices searched were those of Senate Rules Committee Chairman John Cowdery, R-Anchorage, and Senate President Ben Stevens, R-Anchorage, the son of longtime U.S. Sen. Ted Stevens.

The company named in the search warrant was VECO, an Anchorage oil-field-services and construction company, said Tam Cook, the Legislature's top attorney.[/quote456c326921]

Hey FBI, stay the fuck out of our country! It's our oil, not yours!

What do you guys think of the issue (if anything)? The Lower 48 is pretty much taking our oil and leaving us with crumbs. As of right now, gasoline costs $3.40 here.

That article has very little to do with oil at all. It just so happens that VECO (who allegedly filled the coffers of the government officials with bribes and kickbacks) was an oil company, IMO.

So clearly you don't know how to read and comprehend the English language. The investigation is about kick backs and gifts...not oil.

God... quit acting like alaska is it's own country and isn't apart of america. Alaska IS a state and that's not going to change. Then every little article you read about our government in Alaska you freak out and misinterpret it for the worse. If you don't want to be apart of our country, move to canada or something.

You know what... You're absolutely right. I shouldn't be overreacting about this.. But, I have a feeling that this is somehow related to the pipeline (which is a [b975b08a8cd]very sensitive[/b975b08a8cd] issue over here).. and for some reason, I have a feeling these bribes were for a good cause... Democrat lawmakers are trying to tax the oil companies $1,000,000,000 a year for every year a pipeline isn't built (which woul destroy our economy).

But you know, I shouldn't "overassume" either.

I appologize for my venting. This isn't like me at all.

Don't worry... You won't hear me glorify Alaska anymore. My point has already been made.
