I know this has been discussed before, but what is the best and easiest program to get music off of the ipod? I tried to drag into my library from itunes but it didn't work. It can be a free program or a torrent I can get. Anyone have a favorate one they use?

thx.. i'll try that. One more thing.

Will I be able to tell a difference in 128, 160, and 192 kbps when ripping music from a CD? Am I ok to go with the 128?

iPodDisk for OS X

I can't tell a differece in sound quality like that. 128 is OK if you're not a hardcore audiophile who needs their $500 pair of earphones along with like 2048kbps songs.

thx for the help guys.. I ended up with sharepod. It's nice because you just put it on your ipod and can use it at any computer.

Yea, Sharepod is the best software for that job. You can use it with anyones computer too without them installing a software. That way you can transfer songs from other computers.

You [if8103fbbfd]can[/if8103fbbfd] tell the difference between 128kbps and something like 320kbps. Even using the crappy earphones that come with the iPod you can tell the difference. Seriously, if you're just going to be putting music on your iPod, ripping all your CDs @ 320kbps won't fill it up.

I just plugged it into my Fedora Core 4 box - it identifies all the mp3s on there without additional software.
