I want to sell something, but avoid the fees... I've heard Craigslist.com is a good option, but I have no idea how it works... Can anyone offer any help as to how this system works?
Thanks,
Joe

Another question, what is the safest/best form of payment to accept? And is it standard to meet in a public place or just drop it off?

it's gonna be safer to meet with the person, but definatly in a pretty public place if it's for something somewhat expensive, so there will be enough people around that you don't get jumped D

yea i always meet at a mall never go to there place and NERVER NEVER NEVER EVER TAKE ANY type of check always cash but if the 360 is not sealed then you might have to meet at his place so the person can see it.

whenever i deal on craigslist, I either meet the person at a convenient location, their house if they are selling, or my house if i am selling.
I've only dealt in cash on craigslist.
Its a great place to buy/sell stuff, highly recommended.

what about people in Missouri? I don't see that as one of the options.

I use Craigslist at LEAST 3 times a month, if not more and it's worked perfectly every time. Just avoid any emails you get from people using terribly poor grammar/spelling and telling you they've give you a US Postal Money Order and for you to ship it to Nigeria.
Other than the scammers (sometimes a lot) it's pretty much the greatest classified site I've ever used. I'd chose that over eBay any day.

Oh that's not the last one you're going to get. Sadly, if the scammers really wanted to get something out of someone who think they would have a bunch of different well written pre-sets to send so that you don't get the same generic one every time. You'll get used to them.. if I searched my inbox I'd probably find like 200+ of the damn same email.. ugh.

How does it work? Are you required to sell if you list or do you just wait for offers?
chewy
03-09-2006 19:18:05
you arent required to sell unless you want to

Does it have a feedback system or whatnot? If I make an account today and try to sell my iPod will I be likely to sell it?
michae229
04-09-2006 09:40:20
why do you need feedback? if you want it you take if not you dont you see the product test and buy no feedback is needed.

i don't find it safe to meet the buyer with your product, no matter where. I rather sell my stuff on ebay and annomously and through a secure means of PayPal

Yes, and then people will flag your post as spam. And if you do it enough, they'll ban your IP (range). It seems worth it to me.

Or people who are in the know about freebie sites will report your referral link to the company and get your account placed on hold.
