I'm going off to UC Santa Cruz in about 2-3 weeks. I need a phone upgrade anyways since my current Sony Ericssion brick is outdated and some buttons are getting a bit hard to press. It's a T290a, so I'd like something new.
I need some advice
1. What is the best cellphone carrier in Santa Cruz that will work on campus? I've read that Verizon doesn't work on the west side of campus (where I'll be living), Tmobile doesn't have much coverage, Sprint/Nextel rarely, and Cingular being overall the best service. <- I might have answered my own question there but I wouldn't mind switching carriers.
2. What phones do you suggest? I'm trying to meet the following criteria
Cheap (or free after rebate or like under $125 on eBay for an unlocked version)
Unless it's the L7/L6 by Motorola, NOT a brick phone
Has to be "stylish"
NOT the RAZR or any versions of it (v3i, v3x, RAZR maxx, etc.)
EDIT
I found one that I actually like
Sony Ericsson W300i

The "LG Chocolate" VX8500 is CDMA-band (Sprint, Verizon). Cingular runs on the GSM network. Other than that, the VX8500 is pure American manufactured crap =P I prefer the LG KG800. It is the GSM model of the LG Chocolate with a better interface and face keys. It retails for $400 and comes in both white and black.
liNote about the pictures, "Cyon" is the name LG does business as in Korea

The D807 was a disappointment for me =/ too wide for my tastes =/
I really want the White Chocolate, but WAY too expensive for me. Other than that, the W300i will do just fine. Now only if I could find it in Chinatown or something for cheaper. I forgot to ask for that phone today, I was too concentrated on the SLVR to bother looking for the W300i, which is what I'm going after now.

The RIZR is nice. As long as they don't bring the KRZR over here... WAY too tall haha.
