i hope everyone hasn't forgotten about me lol, it sjust i'jm having a good summer thats all

i have these vans slip on shoes and i want to clean them because i got dirt on them, but i have no idea how to clean it. I tried using just water and a bit of soap but after some scrubbing, the checkered tiles started fading from the non scrubbed areas; and the scrubbed areas had these weird specs coming out of it, these dots..

does anyone know the proper way of cleaning these? lol

You never put Vans in a wash machine.

There is a foaming spray that Vans sells. It's a black bottle. Use that, it works wonders. Not many people know about it so they end up washing the shoes with all kinds of weird crap. It costs $4.99, and it lasts a while. They also sell the "stain and water shield" which is a light spray that keeps the water off the shoes, and doesn't let stains sink into the material. If you spray the shoe and let it dry, try dropping a bit of water on it and it'll just glide off.

I know this because I worked for them for 2 years.
