MSNBC article here[=http//www.msnbc.msn.com/id/14489259/]here

In case you haven't heard already (sadly possible) a panel of world astronomers finally voted to officially demote Pluto as a planet, leaving us with 8 and not 9 planets in our solar system. This has been debated for years and will continue to go back and forth. The ruling may in fact be overturned (wording and definitions of 'planet' were quite nebulous). But for now the tiny cold chunk of rock isn't special anymore.

I'm an astronomy lover and have been my whole life so I find this all fascinating. My opinion is regardless of whatever definition is decided upon for a planet Pluto should still be "grandfathered in" as one. Let its moon Charon and the others be the ones to pass or fail. Your thoughts ?

It's now deemed a Dwarf Planet and I believe it remains part of the 9.
