Free MMORPG's

School year is about to begin and I gotta make a decision on what game I'm going to fiddle with in my off time. Trying hard to make sure I don't end up like last year trying to juggle schoolwork and a gazillion different games. Mainly looking for an MMORPG cause I tend to not get addicted like everyone else. Anyone have any suggestions for a free MMORPG with pretty good graphics and gameplay? Not really looking at games like WoW and stuff because I wouldn't play enough to justify the monthly fee. The best I've come up with is
Silkroad[=http//www.silkroadonline.net/]Silkroad but this game is all about grinding with very little emphasis on teamwork if at all. Anyone?

Good Free Mmorpgs IMHO
-Maplestory [Korean 2d ish Looks childish but can be addicting if you like to grind]
-Ragnarok Online [Private servers, There are SO many of them]
-Ultima Online [PRIVATE servers, They're better then the real ones]
-GunZ online. Not an MMO relaly, But A third person shooter, which is online, And you get money and XP When you play, You can buy new weapons and such. worth a try.
-Silk Road [Korean MMO]

A lot of glitches in shadowbane. I played for a very long time and actually got to be the Prelate Advocate but even in the focus group they where not dedicated to fixing the bugs that plagued the game and I have heard it has gotten even worse.

You can try
http//www.runescape.com/
It plays completely through your webbrowser using Java. There are tons of free quests and quite a large area in which to play. Subscription is $5.00/month using credit card or $7.95/month using online payment websites. There is also a discount for buying a year in advance and the game is extremely active (at this exact moment 147575 people are playing).

Runescape has the worst video-angle/movement controls ever, and is mostly populated by prepubescent 10 year olds.

Go get Guild Wars. Pay the $40 for the game then never pay again. It's a free, high quality MMORPG similar to World of Warcraft, but no monthly fee. You will of course need a decent graphics card, but from what I've heard, this game is worth it. There is also an expansion pack releasing soon.

Guild Wars is excellent. I play both the original Prophecies and the new Factions. I used to play DAoC and hated the grind and the pay-to-play. GW is a great game, beautiful to look at, the gameplay is a pleasant blend of PvP and PvE without the grind hassle. Max level is 20, and you can dual class. Can't speak highly enough about it!
