So, I was taking a look at the laptops at my local Wal-Mart and I'm torn between these two laptops

[bec0e50e1c6]14" Compaq Presario V2718WM (AMD Turion 64 ML-34) for $748[/bec0e50e1c6]

http//www.walmart.com/catalog/product.gsp?product_id=5007578[]http//www.walmart.com/catalog/product.gsp?product_id=5007578

[bec0e50e1c6]15.4" Toshiba Widescreen Laptop w/ Intel Core Solo Processor T1350 for $878[/bec0e50e1c6]

http//www.walmart.com/catalog/product.gsp?product_id=4982717[]http//www.walmart.com/catalog/product.gsp?product_id=4982717

... and on their online website there is

[bec0e50e1c6]Toshiba 15.4" Laptop w/ 1.73GHz Intel Centrino Core Duo Processor T2250 for $998[/bec0e50e1c6]

http//www.walmart.com/catalog/product.gsp?product_id=4982718[]http//www.walmart.com/catalog/product.gsp?product_id=4982718

The specs are all on that page... I'm leaning towards the Compaq (I'm an AMD slut and like the fact it has ATI onboard, rather than Intel Integrated Graphics)... Anyways, you know my price range (under $1,000)

Any suggestions are greatly appreciated. I'm not looking to do HARDCORE gaming, but I would like to be able to get my game on when I feel like it.

All thoose graphics cards are shared memory even the x200. Go for something with 1gig of ram and find which laptop stays on the longest and go for that.

the last one is great.. i have basically the same one, but with 2 gigs instead of 1 and a fingerprint scanner.. which by the way is a great feature because it can be used as a scroll button like on a mouse. anyways go with the last one if you want the best performance.

Paying for stuff is SO two years ago............

Well... If these laptops have shared memory and all that bad stuff... What do YOU recommend that's $1000 and under?

[quotea61372e2e8]Paying for stuff is SO two years ago............[/quotea61372e2e8]

I don't feel like waiting 1-3 months for a laptop from a DIY site... I don't trust too many freebie sites anymore as a result from FreePay... I've been waiting for my iPod Shuffle for 9 months and they even moved me back to Processing and they refuse to give me an update on the matter...

It was a very bad experience and I don't need to go through it again..

Don't have anything against Dell... In fact, I admire them.. They are the [b3b5934fab2]only[/b3b5934fab2] computer manufacture that assembles in the U.S.

That's a good option. The video processor is a bit iffy (I'd like to game... though I'm not hardcore and I don't need the best graphics... Just something that isn't going to slow down on me when I play... Would upping it to the 256MB GeForce for an extra $129 help any?) and I'm not too sure about the 1 GB shared mem..

Anyways, that's on the top of my list so far.

yeah well im not huge into gaming but i know that my toshiba came with top quality hardware. The only problem that I had with it was a few months ago, when my dvd/cdr combo drive died on me and i couldnt burn any more dvds, i bured too many I think...lol

li – Microsoft(R) Works/Money
li – HP Home & Home Office Store in-box envelope

$1,017.99 and $100 MIR brings it down to $917.99 + s/h

I'm still leaning towards the 14" Compaq Presario V2718WM (AMD Turion 64 ML-34) for $748 thats at my local Wal-Mart... The only difference between the two laptops is

- The one at Wal-Mart is 1.8Ghz instead of 2.0GHz

- Wal-Mart's lap has a 6 Cell... Online has a 12 Cell Lithium Ion Battery

- 802.11b/g without Bluetooth @ Wal-Mart

... but then again even though it says 128 MB shared vid mem on Wal-Mart's page.. I think they mean 32 MB shared vid mem... I don't know, I'm confused... I hate shopping for laptops.

Ewwwwww Dell! Check out the ones at http//www.tigerdirect.com/applications/Category/category_tlc.asp?CatId=17 and www.ibuypower.com. They spend about $100 out of a $1,000 laptop on parts, the rest pays them.

You owe me 50% of what you spend on either of the sites I have recommended to you and will be paid instantly via PayPal or check..[/sizec5212ef67f]
