8 GB flash drive. The seller sells them a lot. Are they just cheap knock-off brands that don't work? Will it work fine? What is bad about this brand?

my guess is that they probably won't end up storing that much. a bunch of fake and defective item comments on his last couple pages of feedback so i say stay away

Those suck, just spend the money on a real one you can RMA if defective...

Other than it flat-out not working (or not holding the capacity advertizing), the read/write times are probably horrendous. I'd recommend you steer clear...

I got one of these instead from OfficeMax. It was $25 after instant rebates. Looks like a nice one.

Best Buy has a 3 pack of 1GB flash drives from PNY for $60.

I agree. Stay away. That flash drive doesn't even seem to have a brand. I doubt it has 8GB as advertised. I second the suggestion for Sandisk cruzer mini. I myself have a regular Cruzer and it's perfect for me.

I just bought 2 1GB Kingston Data Traveler I's when they were having the promo...my girlfriend needed one for school anyway and I've been using my 256 from Dell since 2003. Ended up like $33 shipped. The read/write times are nothing spectacular, but it wasn't a bad buy )

I'm a huge fan of the Cruzer Titanium series. Virtually indestructible and one of the fastest you can buy (much faster than the Mini/Micro). The Corsair Voyager is a little faster but is poorly constructed and prone to failure. The new Titanium series is smaller and cooler looking too. Got to get me a 2GB or 4GB model, since my 512MB Titanium is always full now.
