I don't know which router is the best but to increase the range, you should try a hi-gain antenna or a wireless repeater (expensive though)....

thats a wireless B router. Try to get one of the newer 802.11n routers. Netgear's RangeMax next is a pretty nice one.

I was just about to post that the Netgear RangeMax is probably the best consumer router you'll get. Their range is unsurpassed (it has SEVEN internal antennae), and I've always preferred Netgear to the other "home" brands (especially D-Link and Linksys).
