Didn't he disappear or something? I doubt he's "well" if they have to hide him.

I hope he retires (hopefully dies). He's freaking 80.

I think he's being hidden because of how many people would love to kill him.

Well there is speculation that he's dead or damn close to it.

I mean this is the first time in like 47 years he is not in power and someone else is.

How is his brother compared to him??? Is he just like his brother

That's what I'm thinking considering the fact that if they know he's dead, they're going to rebel for some reason. cheer

But if he is dead, they cannot hide it forever.

Well what will they do in 2 or so years, with no new pictures or words from him?

Furthermore what will they do in 10 years when he is supposedly 90+?

Or 20 years when he is 100+?

or 30 years when he is 110+?

Not forever but long enough for his brother to put a strangle hold on the country and prepare for the inevitable rebellions...

Oh it won't last a month. If he isn't seen by then the people will rebel...

Doesn't really matter. If he's not dead, he's dying soon. So shrug

Very true. But I know nothing about his brother, is he as bad as Fidel?

On the news his brother said he would bring more diplomatic actions to Cuba, but the news people said they have no idea what that means...

In that past it has been said that Castro's brother was far more brutal than he was, and that if Castro was assasinated or otherwise removed from power, things would be much worse for Cuba and for US-Cuban relations.

However I don't think that's true today, just from what I'm seeing. Cuba has isolated itself from the world, and is the only Communist (such that is is) government remaining in the Western hemisphere. Their people suffer, and to some extent the government has to understand that they teeter constantly on the verge of coup/rebellion, in the same fashion as how they took power 50 years ago or whenever it was.

It's in their best interest to patch things up with the rest of the world and gain some much needed tourism and trade. Fidel is too proud and stubborn to make any concession to the US, hopefully his brother is more pragmatic. Time will tell, I suppose.

I think his brother is more hardline but Fidel dying or handing over power could lead to revolution which would help Cuba so much. Before Castro took over Cuba was becoming a great tourist destination and it could easily be that again...
