There's been a lot of monitor talk lately, but my monitor just broke down and I need to buy a new one. I'm looking for a monitor, but I have no idea what is good and what is not. I've read things like dead pixels and ghosting, but I have no idea how to identify them. What kind of monitor should I buy? I really liked my old one since it was a gift, but it was a no-name brand and I think maybe other brands might work better. The old one I had has a auto-picture button, so I'm basically looking for a 19 inch widescreen with an auto-picture button. Please help me find a suitable monitor for around $200.

Also, I'd like to know if buying a monitor online is safe. What if it comes with dead pixels or things like that?
