Ok, well Im looking for something to carry my laptop around while I am in school and was wondering which would be better. A laptop backback or something that is carried by your side with a strap around your shoulder kind of thing?
Also, if anyone has some good suggestions of such laptop carriers then posting them would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks

I prefer laptop bags, company "Targus" are pretty good bags for both travel and padded protection. Its what I have D

I have a Booq that I love. http//www.booqbags.com/Detail.bok?no=21 Expensive, but worth it to protect my laptop.

[quote1e52792ed9="romanodog"]a lot of people have those
timbuk2[=http//www.timbuk2.com]timbuk2 bags, they seem pretty nice.[/quote1e52792ed9]
I have a Timbuk2 from about 10 years ago, if not more, and it's still waterproof and bombproof. My GF has a smaller version of my bag that she bought 8 years ago and it looks brand new. I know TimBuk2 now sells a bag with an integrated laptop sleeve, which is dead sexy. The problem is I can't see ponying up $130 on a new bag, when I have one already...
Highly recommend either Timbuk2 or Booq.

Aw man, those bags look real nice....but so expensive, heh.
Is there anything that might be under $30 but still pretty decent?

Wow, nice bags.
Me, I haven't bought any case since I had my old Pentium Thinkpad, but I always found a basic (no pockets, straps etc), yet fully padded case that would fit in my backpack was better than a laptop backpack itself.
IMO, a shoulder bag is too easy to lose or be stolen. Not to mention less masculine. ;)

Ok, I just went around to a bunch of stores looking for laptop backpacks and messengers. I need something that can carry books and a laptop so it couldnt be too small. Also, I would really like a shoulder bag as compared to a backpack.
With that in mind, I found a really nice shoulder bag for $50 and it seems like it could hold a few text books and a laptop. However, all of the backpacks seem to be able to hold a lot more than the shoulder ones and I dont know how much space for books I am going to need.
So what do you guys think would be better based on my needs (space for text books and laptop)? The shoulder bag or a backpack?

I just got a backpack yesterday from Walmart. It was a Targus and it fits my 17" screen laptop. And it was tax free!! Because of a thing going on with school supplies and stuff in missouri.

Man that is such a nice bag...too bad its so expensive...
Anyways, this was the one I was looking at and really wanted. Do you think it could hold a lot or no? And should I go with that or just a backpack?

It looks like the Hemp Bag holds more and looks a lot nicer in my opinion...
Also, Hemp is the strongest natural fiber there is... That thing looks like it can fall apart easy...
You know what they say... You get what you paid for...

This is probably too late, but if you are a college student and walk a lot at your university, that shoulder bag is gonna get annoying eventually. Just get a really good laptop sleeve. It is so much easier.
