Just curious, since Lenovo took over, has there been any quality changes in Thinkpads?

ibm computers tend to be really overpriced but great quality and great computers.

Yeah, I always wanted a Thinkpad for that reason, but it's Lenovo now. I wonder if there's a difference. The specs rock though.

Nice setup. I love the 14.1" screen size too...perfect for a laptop.

I guess I'm just more of a desktop replacement type guy...

Personally, I prefer a widescreen display (the trend is moving towards widescreen displays as more and more pc makers have been selling them).

If I'm not mistaken Lenovo is the only major PC manufacturer that doesn't have any widescreens.

yeah i bought a new laptop yesterday and went for the 17" widescreen. I would never go back to my other laptop.

Well, the 14.1" is technically a widescreen, ratio-wise; it's just a little smaller.

My first computer was a desktop replacement sporting
AMD Athlon 64 3000+
(upgraded to) 1.25gb ram
15.4" Screen

That thing got so hot. It still runs nice though. If I could do it again, however, a smaller one would be nicer. Less heat and less weight.

That Athlon generated a lot of head I'm sure. Intels are better for notebooks, AMDs for desktops.

Yeah, it definately did. It was one of the first laptops that had the 64 bit chip in it, and at the time, all the talk was around windows x64, so I was pumped.

what university is that? If it is one with some crazy high tuition, its not really free is it? Also, isnt it annoying if everyone has the same laptop, if someone stole yours, it would be impossible to find it.

yeah, I would just buy my own with the shit I want and then it couldn't be stolen so easily. good point.

If everyone had the same laptop, nobody would steal it to use at school anyway. They would steal and sell it just the same, customized or not.

It's Bentley College, a small business school outside of Boston and yeah tuition is a cool 41k.

It's weird everyone thinks stealing would be a problem, that couldn't be further from the truth - it's all the same thing. Also, if someone did try to steal they would have to use the stolen laptop off campus because MAC addresses are tracked.
