Does anyone know of a good site to get used textbooks for college at? I have seen a few but I am new to this and don't know if there are any ones that are cheaper than others.. Thanks for any help.

Buy on ebay or half....9 times out of 10 you are ok buying an older edition and those are very inexpensive, also you can buy ones that aren't in great shape "cosmetically" but who really cares if you cover has a rip in it )

Half.com is the best - but you have to have a credit card. I tried with my debit card and that didn't work.

Otherwise - Amazon is ok is well.

do a combination campus bookstore, friends, half.com, amazon, abebooks. Ideally if you want only new books (as I do), look for international editions. much cheaper, same shit but different covers. I personally don't use used books b/c especially with college students, who knows where the fuck that book has been or touched. If you do buy used books, I'd wash my hands before and after using it, and not eat while using it.

One more tip, no matter what the place you are buying it from says, if you need the book urgently, buy it locally, I have seen too many people get screwed in trying to save $5-10 and buying it online.

make sure you communicate with the person on who you are buying it from, you can buy it new but why if you are just going to sell it back and sometimes they buy it more back then you bought it for

This is what you do

1.) goto efollet.com if your campus uses that as a bookstore
2.) Select your school and your class
3.) They give you a listing of books, authors and editions for each class...write them down or copy paste into...
4.) Half.com, amazon, ebay, or http//www.addall.com/
5.) Click the links and read the descriptions to verify that you are getting what you want (some classes require CDs with the book, some international versions don't include supplemental material) and expect to NOT pay the lowest price, but maybe 2nd or 3rd lowest.
6.) Select media mail and you'll get your book within 13 days, usually much less (try to choose sellers near you...that way it takes less time to ship)
7.) when you're done, relist your book on half.com or a similar venue to make most of your money back!

Yeah, half.com and amazon are great.

One site that I haven't seen people mention is Buy.Com. They'll often times have GREAT deals on textbooks.

But IMHO, www.half.com is the best for used media (books, video games, movies, etc.)
