I've seen Hanns-G monitors get good customer reviews on TigerDirect and there on Newegg, however I've yet to see a professional review.
Looking at the specs, they're pretty impressive... until you get to 2 things that are showstoppers for me
19" Widescreen is 1440x900 resolution. 900 vertical resolution sucks, most things you do on a computer (web browsing, document editing) use more vertical space than horizontal. Games will also suffer from lack of vertical detail.
That's a 6-bit panel, meaning it can only display 262K true colors, the rest are dithered, which will look bad in photos and other gradient images like game textures. For simple desktop PC use, like for an office or grandma or whatever, 6-bit is okay. But if you game or do graphics work, you'll hate a 6-bit display. 8-bit displays display all 16.7M true colors without dithering.
Are there any images I can look at to see the "difference?"

Well, the effect is very subjective. If I didn't point it to you, or you don't have a discerning eye for color (aren't a photographer, graphics artist, etc.), then you might not even notice. That's why it's best to look at one yourself, because you may be more sensitive to it.
Here is an article I just Googled up explaining how a particular Samsung 6-bit panel that claims 16.7M colors doesn't actually do so (6-bits can only produce 262K+dithering = 16.2M). Under the graphic there are a few sample images blown up to demonstrate the dithering.

Hmm, I'm glad you pointed that out. I do a lot of webdesign and graphics so I'm picky when it comes to pixels.
Since I'm trying to stay under the $200 mark, I think I might end up going with this Acer.

A much better choice, I would think. 1280x1024 is a much more practical resolution, and it appears to be an 8-bit panel (16.7M colors). Acer makes some good stuff on the budget line as well, so I think you'd be happier. I would be. ;)
Ahh! How gay is this?
I ordered from newegg last night and today buy.com lowers their price.

That one at Buy.com is a different monitor. The one you got at Newegg is better!
8ms vs 12ms
300 nit vs 250 nit
DVI vs VGA only
7001 contrast vs 5001
For $30 more you got a better deal. ;)
Oh! I didn't even notice that. I just saw the same picture and thought, "DAMN!" lol
Phew... hehe oops
