dude, i'm all for pirating games and such, but why the hell would you waste your time downloading a Dreamcast game that you can buy at EB GAMES for a quarter?

Gooogler

They are like $10 / and I want to get Marvel vs Capcom 2 which is like $70 and I am leaving on a trip tomorrow so I wanted to know if I can hotswap ps1 games and play them on the trip.

You can [b14ea7ababa]backup[/b14ea7ababa] Dreamcast games with a BBA or DC Serial Link cable.. You will also need some software to rip the game, which can be found on Dreamcast Scene sites.

However, you should just make it easier on yourself and join a DC Hub.

1) Go to http//dcplusplus.sourceforge.net[]http//dcplusplus.sourceforge.net and download the software

2) Install the software and run it

3) In the Nick field, insert your handle (also known as "screen name"), E-mail field, insert your e-mail (preferrably a fake e-mail), You can put whetever you want in the Description (used to describe to others what your shares consist of) or just leave it blank. Then set your Connection type to whatever you are using (i.e. DSL, Cable, etc.)

4) Click Downloads, click Browse under Default Download Directory and select a folder where you want all your stuff to be downloaded to, do the same for Unfinished downloads directory (where you want the incomplete downloads to be stored until they complete)

5) Click Sharing, click Add Folder, select a folder you want to share and click OK... After it's done processing, click OK to get out of that screen.. Then hit Ctrl+Q and paste that dchub// address I gave you and hit enter, you should connect to the hub.. Now click the Search button (magnifiying glass button) and type in what dreamcast game you want or double-click on my handle, [REG]h3x and browse for what you want and right-click and hit Download to download it.

I used to do hubs a lot, but the hassle of dealing with different rules and varying minimum share quotas on every hub pissed me off. I eventually had to have different clients running for different hubs.

Torrents are so much easier.

h3x

29-07-2006 23:36:49

I find Torrents to be a pain in the ass...

As long as you keep a decent sized share and don't share your Windows folder or any useless shit that no one will benefit from, you will have no problems..

Torrents on the other hand are untrustworthy for the most part as most of the users simply leech and delete when their download completes, meaning extremely slow speeds and sometimes plain hang-ups (0.0k/s until someone seeds).

For example... I'm downloading Season 2 of 24 and it's estimated time of completion is [b481f6ecba4]7 days 5 hours[/b481f6ecba4] ?

It depends on the sites you deal with. I run into that problem far less on Oink, for instance. Keep in mind, I'm not saying torrents are the end all and be all. They're just less of a hassle.

On the other hand, DC, like IRC, is very dependent on user to user communication. If someone has a rare game, app or movie you want, you often have to schmooze to get a download slot. You also have a TON of fakes on there, plus people using netlimiter.

Again, a hassle, in my opinion...

That said, one thing I will say is that I've seem more rare stuff on hubs than elsewhere. The problem is you have more people showing off their shares than actually [i82d139309d]sharing[/i82d139309d] them.

DirectConnect is good when you don't have a private torrent site or a usenet account. I use to use it about 5 years ago pirating DC isos in its prime, back then all the dc hubs banned DC++ for the most part only a few didn't. Seems like everyone uses DC++ now though.

True enough. )

I suppose if there were a good small hub among a few honest people with similar interests and few restrictions or quotas, it would be more enjoyable. I just didn't find that with the big ones.

Probably because DC++ is a pussy client now. (

I started with oDC, then moved on to LDC and ZDC. No clue what's best now though.

Lol Pirating DC games IS A LOT easier then you think. Ready? Get the iso, then burn it to a cs, DONE, It works. All you need to do is burn image to a blank CD and your dream cast will boot and play it. simple as that, Yes i have about 50 burned DC games and they work.

OK, that's not considered pirating as all of the work has already been done.. You're simply burning a pre-compiled image. shrug

[quoteaffdf77178]Don't you need that disc that you play 1st to enable it to play burned games?[/quoteaffdf77178]

Only for older releases and certain games that are too large to fit the first track needed to self-boot.

Most Dreamcast scene releases are CDI and BIN/CUE...

I believe I have a CDI Ripping tool for Macs.. Just connect to the DC hub and you'll find [REG]h3x.. Double click me and go to DC Shares -> Sega Dreamcast -> Dreamcast DVD 1 -> [UTILITY] and you should find it there.

(When you're connected, tell me your user name and I'll add you to my auto slot [meaning you will be able to download from me regardless of how many open slots I have left])

[EDIT I will be trying to repair my HDD.. So I won't be in the hub for a few hours...]

Make sure that in the Connection Settings is set to Active and the IP field is blank... If it is, insert your real IP address in the IP field (if you don't know what your IP address is, press Windows Key + R and type cmd and hit enter (Command Prompt) and type in ipconfig)
