I have some new CDs I want to rip for my iPod but I'm wondering which is the best format to rip them in? MP3, MP4, M4A, ACC, FLAC, APE, OGG? I don't know if the last 3 can even be played on an iPod. Help = +karma D

I'd say AAC would be the best for your iPod. I know that's a very good sounding format but I'm not 100% sure if it's compatiable since I haven't had a working iPod for about a year. (

AAC.

It would be odd for AAC not to be compatible, as it's Apple's recommended codec. ;)

AAC is the best sounding Format? Can I convert 128 bit mp3's to 320 bit ones? Like Uncompress them? XD

You want LAME CODEC MP3s. 192kbs (or higher) VBR if you want.

I figured, works the same for videos, Can't make a low bit rate video more bit rates and improve the quality =(.

Not unless you use RockBox as the firmware for your iPod. It doesn't run very smooth on my 60gb photo though, but it does run all those formats.

OK, AAC @ 256 kb/s or MP3 (Fraunhofer Codec) at 320 kB/s?

I've had issues with seeking through Fraunhofer mp3s on/in my iPod/iTunes. It doesn't seem to happen with LAME encoded ones though. Maybe it's just me, I don't know...

[quoteeb5fb39d30="Wolfeman"]I think I'm going with AAC ?[/quoteeb5fb39d30]NOOOOOOOO. Don't do it. You'll be supporting a proprietary format.

LAME MP3's all the way. 192 or 256 VBR.

I use Easy CD-DA and I don't think it has LAME Codec ?
