Hey, I’m looking for a good way to mount my ipod in my gmc jimmy. I’ve seen people with reviews of products for this but I have some specific things I want to accomplish.

First of all, no FM transmitting. I’m looking for line out, I’m lucky enough to have an aux input on the front of the stereo I installed (one of the mail reasons I bought the model I did) and I’m looking for high quality sound. I’m not ripping my music at a good quality to hear it on an FM station (plus I’ve heard about a lot of trouble with these.

The second part is if it can charge my ipod, it would be nice.

Last, and this is the hard part, I have a xskin on my ipod. And I don’t like taking it off. I’ve had it for over 2 weeks and there isn’t a scratch on it yet, not one friggin scratch and I want to keep it that way. So I’d like to mount it in a way where I can use the skin.

Here’s the products I’ve found

I think this is my best bet, it doesn’t exactly hold the ipod, but I guess I can live without that. Sik Imp[=http//www.sik.com/imp.php] Sik Imp

This isn’t too bad, but the dock connector part is huge and they say with a skin it’s no go Monster’s Car Solution[=http//www.ipodlounge.com/reviews_more.php?id=3747_0_6_0_M] Monster’s Car Solution

A lot of people complain about the belkin because the line out comes straight from the lighter adapter and therefore causes various engine noises to come through.

I would love for this to work, but I doubt with a skin on it would fit, a little bigger and this would kickass DLO’s non FM transmitting dock[=http//www.everythingipod.com/suggest.tpl?command=search&db=dbs/products.db&cart=110417729212242454&eqPRONAMEdatarq=DLO%20TransPod%20Direct%20Car%20Solution%20for%20iPod%20&searchSKU=w009-2003&max=1&eqAVAILdatarq=YES&max=1] DLO’s non FM transmitting dock

So if anyone can help out let me know. If I can’t find a good solution I guess I can always just use the headphone port to my aux input, not a problem, but to add in a charger would be nice. Or just a bracket type idea to mount it in my jimmy with the case on would be fine too, alas I can’t find that…

I'm not sure the first one will work with an iskin on though.

yeah i don't think the first one works with a skin, i have the second one, however not belkin brand, and the third one, i check out. although it has no line out, it looks like it does but turns out thats a DC out, for a tunecase to plug in to.

i'm thinking for mounting it i might combine this Pro clip mount for a 99 Jimmy[=http//www.proclipusa.com/?sectionpath=97&pageid=8146&processor=content&pcategoryid=12924&categoryid=13176&year=1999&p_origin=97&p_sectionid=97&p_pageid=737&p_processor=asp&p_asp_processor=product&p_action=proclipcategorysearch&p_ppagecategoryid=13872&p_pagecategoryid=13873&p_pcategoryid=12924&p_categoryid=13176&p_sitecategoryid=&p_year=1999]Pro clip mount for a 99 Jimmy along with Lajo twistclip[=http//202.153.110.46/Xskn/ShowImage.asp?i=&filename=include/express/TwistClip/Original/Snow.jpg]Lajo twistclip to create my own mount. i could do a little dremelling, some recontructing and make my own mount that fits in that spot which is perfect, along with a clip that'll hold the skinned ipod. The only part that bothers me is that the proclip thing is like 30 bucks, just for an angled chunk opf plastivc....$30!.

the next step i would have to do though is take my plug i have like the belkinyou listed, which mine is 6ft as well, and cut it down and rewire it to be about 6 inches long, because mounted right next to the stereo that's all the cord i would need, a 90 degreee plug on one end would be the best, but i doubt i'd get the wireing all right
