I know this is going to sound like a really newbish question but I havent had dial-up in so long so I forget how it works.

Anyways. I was just wondering if I could still use the regular AIM service with a dial-up connection or would I only be able to IM via the full AOL service? Also, would internet explorer work on a dial-up connection?

Thanks

Mozilla Firefox is a great web browser to use instead of IE.

Firefox has been downloaded 44,000,000+ times and has a large consumer base.

I'm just giving you a hard time for fun here, but I bet the full AOL software has been downloaded more and has a larger customer base ;)

that's not what he meant. he wanted to know if the only way he could use the internet and AIM while paying for AOL as is ISP was using the AOL software, or if he could use IE and an AIM client....which he can

You could use regular aim but it may be tricky, you may want to use the reg one... its nearly just as good.

Lol, alright some of the stuff you guys just mentioned confused me to no end.

I will be using a phone line to connect to the internet for the next week. I was wondering if it was possible to still log on to AIM (not AOL) using just the phone line. Same goes with using IE or Firefox.

Yes, it will work just fine. Same as broadband, except you have to dial in to your ISP first.
