So I know this kid who (through his moms business connections ( ) purchases authentic nike shoes from a wholesaler in China (?) and resells them. He sells them out of the trunk of his car.

Now, here's my situation

This wholesale business really interests me. I have no business or wholesale experience but I feel I have the know how to learn. I have startup money no prob but this whole finding a supplier/fake goods/no experience stuff makes it hard.

I'm just thinking that if I got my hands on some polos/T's/whatever (anything male 15-25 demographic), I could actually make it as a small side business. For it stand out I would definitly need name brand though A&F/Polo Ralph Lauren/Nike etc. I would sell with a combination of street sales, and my own website (i think i could get enough people visiting a website, i'd worry about that later).

So, if you know anything about this subject I guess I'm wondering how hard this endeavor would be, and if it is a viable option or just another sweet idea i had.

If you are currently buying anything from wholesalers or factory direct post it, and where you get it from(country not company name), what kind of % profit you make.

cool i think thats it

thanks , actually someone (maybe you) linked to this forum in a different thread and that's what made me think about all this stuff. I'm reading and trying to absorb as much info as i can to figure out whether i could seriously get into this or not.

If you can find a good supplier you can make decent money in the resale business. However, the market is crowded and gets more crowded by the day.

Your best bet is to find a niche, under-served market and exploit it, until someone catches on, and your niche gets filled, then you move on.

And there's no way the Nike's are authentic - they may be made in the same factory, even by the same workers, but they're not authentic.

so whats the definition of authentic then.

also, i found a website that has nothing but great reviews about them on the wholesale 4UM site, a guy from the company is a poster; They have lots of Hollister, A&F, Ben Sherman, Ralph Lauren. I didn't think it was possible to find a place like this online but stuff seems pretty legit. If I can get a shipment of preppy looking polos that people think look hot i could practically sell all of them out my car
