I don't know if any of you are aware of Xorbit but I thought I would post here to inform you guys of it. I signed up for it back when it first began, which I think was back in March... yah tell me about it. Anyway, the other day I got confirmation that they sent my package to hook up to my cable. [b31e28e6301]You must have a cable connnection and cable internet to sign up.[/b31e28e6301] I think what it does is monitor your cable strength possibly in your area. They send you $75 a month to host the box in your house... it weighs about 35 pounds and is about the same size as a deskop computer. They are only accepting certain zip codes and mine just happened to be one of them D If you want to check it out, go to http//www.xorbit.com/freecable.asp
and if your zip is an accepted one, and want to be really nice, PM me to get my host ID so I get a referral bonus )

That actually seems like an amazing deal; in fact, almost worth dumping DSL at $19.95 a month to get cable and cable Internet bundled for $35 a month, and then get paid by Xorbit.

Here's a post on SD that describes the story a bit further.

Tell me about it. That's why in the link it says freecable because in reality it is free cable just to host a box in your room. You even get a $50 early set-up bonus if you set-up the box within 5 days of receiving it.

I wasn't accepted.

The discussion at SD includes the following information [quoteae5ebe6d77][iae5ebe6d77]We are accepting only a single host in each geographical area. [uae5ebe6d77](as determined by zip code - doylnea edit)[/uae5ebe6d77] If you do not return the fully completed agreements in a timely manner, we will move to the next person in your area and your application will be rejected.[/iae5ebe6d77][/quoteae5ebe6d77]

Pretty sure that doesn't mean you were accepted, just that they got your information and will process it soon. Once you are accepted they will shoot an email at you saying that they send a envelope with an agreement you have to sign and return.

Dude, why not? All they monitor is signal strength and shit, check out their FAQ. $75 a month is well worth it to me.

Im sure the data can take up a lot of space especially running 24/7 collecting it.

How ever, be careful with what you do. They might have some way of telling you opened the thing

The thing is probably expensive and you dont want them saying you broke the thing, now pay us $1000 to fix it.
