No--you have to pay 2 bills online for 12 months, but they will start the shipping process for the mini after the first month. If you forget to pay the 2 bills sometime during the year (breaking the contract), they will charge $250 to your account with no notice.

I dont think its worth it just because i have their credit cards and they suck. I am trying to get rid of my citicards. But yeah its legit but i dont think its worth it.

It's worth it if you have a lot of money. (If I did, I'd do this)
But this is not a "basic checking" type of account, as they have those as well.

If you had that much money, why wouldnt you just go out and buy your own iPod???
If you have to keep 1500$ in the account at all times... thats seriously money that you cant touch, might as well go buy your own iPod.

Not if you're cheap..... lol
You'd be surprised at how many people are out there who have tons of money, don't spend it, [ifb81efe62d]and[/ifb81efe62d] clip coupons.
I've seen people open and close bank accounts just to get toasters, then die, only to leave a few hundred grand to some second cousin they've never met. roll
Even for those who aren't cheapskates, this is a great deal for someone who has a child, or spouse that wants one, while they already have theirs, or have no desire for one.
Sorry to crush your rebuttal so completely.... ;)

You didnt crush my rebuttal because... they are both good points... If youre cheap, then you probably know what you want to get, try to get it at the best price... and even then, you know what you can spend on things such like this. If your cheap then you should also know that thats just too much work to get an iPod for free... And if their cheap, they probably looked into the interests rates... and found a better rate for that 1500$ that they 'have' to keep in the account.
And good point about children or accounts that you want to build up. But again... what about interest rates?
What are the interest rates for this type of account anyways?

Touche, that's a good point...
Still, I think some of those cheap bastards have 20 accounts for those toasters etc, so they might do it.
I've no idea about the interest rates. (my eyes reject fine print) ;)

lol yea like on spiderman2 when his aunt tries to open up an account and get the free toaster.. you can't help feeling bad for her when she doesn't get the toaster.. haha
but seriously tho, i wouldn't want to have $1500 that i cant touch.. that would be unbearable!!!

Very true, which is ultimately why I decided not to do it. However, if you have direct deposit the account is free (and you don't have to keep the 1500 in there). My work doesn't offer direct deposit, but if they did I think I would do the offer.

I'm pretty sure it's 0, since it's supposedly a "free" checking account, so if you don't have direct deposit and you have to keep the 1500 in there, it's probably not worth it )
