I just opened up a new webhosting site called CycloneHost[=http//www.cyclonehost.com]CycloneHost. It has 3 plans, the Cyclone Starter, Tropical Storm and Level 5 Hurricane. Each one has [i7e90e631aa]a lot[/i7e90e631aa] of features. If you go to the site you can see them all and the prices. If anyone wants to sign up, i'll offer a 10% discount on your first month. If you want the discount, don't sign up from the site, PM me and I'll set you up. You can also PM me for custom plans. Current payment types accepted are Paypal and Credit Cards. I hope to do business with some of you! D

EDIT I redit the site design! Check out the new look!

EDIT YET AGAIN!
Alright! I've redone the site, yet again! This time, instead of just redoing the design though, i've integrated a whole new system and whole new billing system. CycloneHost is back and better than ever!

some constructive criticism....Might want to improve your homepage if you do not just want people you know to sign up, or only if you have the cheapest price. You should check templatemonster or somewhere else for a template.

edit also, just so you should know, I am paying $10 per month for 100gb and 1k bandwidth at 1and1. It is unlikely you can match that price because of economies of scale, which is why it is even more important that you improve your homepage.

Agreed, homepage needs a facelift. Great start though.

I honestly don;t mean to threadcrap , just some suggestions. But your prices are WAY to high. I have 1 GB hosting for $1.99 a month with 900 DB's and Unlimited Bandwidth. So take that in mind, I am not hosting myself or anything or veen getting special deals. Just a heads up. Good Luck though.

These prices aren't that bad, they just aren't that great either. But like somebody said, it's virtually impossible for the little guy to compete on price alone with the big dogs -- you have to set yourself apart with service. I'd pay a few extra bucks a month for personal hosting if the service was top-notch, and a LOT more per month if I were running a business on it. The problem with the big outfits like 1and1 is that their service for the regular consumer is crap. If you're not a million dollar client, they hardly give you the time of day. Mind you I've been happy with 1and1 for the 3 years I've been with them, but then again I don't tax my plan and haven't had an issue requiring support either.

I can pretty much guarantee you won't get unlimited bandwidth for 2 bucks a month. They may SAY unlimited, as many do, but if you want to test it, throw up a site with something interesting and then get it slashdotted. You'll be surprised how quickly they turn off the tap. ;)

It's only "unlimited" until you impact their total bandwidth allotment enough to piss off the other customers on your same pipe, or their backbone provider slaps them with an extra $10K-$20K at the end of the month. They get away with it only because the majority of their target market never actually use that much bandwidth.

I'm a member of a gaming community that has had to move our forums to like 3 different hosts in the past several years due to "unlimited" hosting claims turning out to be untrue. After we got up around 20-30GB per month, we'd get cut off. I think it happened twice in one year even. We finally had a member with access to a dedicated fat pipe step up and host it, but until then it was quite frustrating.

but yea i see what you're saying. Cwncool, site looks good, i agree the site design could be a little more flashy though. I'll probably need some hosting this fall (besides $12yr dreamhost)), so we'll see )

it's a general consensus that it doesn't look too professional at the moment. I some-what agree. I either need to redesign from a template or something or just make this one look better...

Much better, but I think you need to do something with the empty spaces.

Maybe move the text on the left to above the pictures, make the picture boxes wider to fill up the space.

What gaming community would that be? My bf1942 clan has changed their game/webserver pretty often.

@Cwncool The site still looks a little unprofessional. The prices on the main page should line up horizontally; as well as the plan specs. You also might want to find a better pic, or anti-alias the "Cyclone Starter" pic. Why is there a "Plans" tab when there is no "Plans" page? And as TSJ said, there is too much white space on the left and right sides of the page. And this is on a 1024x768 screen, so I can't imagine how lonely the center will look on 1280x1024

Suggestion Maybe put a pic for each package on the "Order"/"Plan" page. To give more of a tropical theme instead of the chaos of font sizes/styles/colors you have going on there. And put everything under "All packages include" in a table to make it look cleaner. Lastly, a nitpicky thing leave out the dash before "Stirring up the web" under CycloneHost.com in the upper-left hand corner. Dashes are reserved for quotes, and it looks like "Stirring up the web" was a testimonial from CycloneHost.com.

I'm not sure what to put there either, since there's not much content to the site yet. But I was thinking, once you get up-and-running, maybe some customer reviews, links to sites that you host, etc. But it really doesn't [i82dca1089b]have[/i82dca1089b] to be filled.

I saw the sign-up link there, I was just looking to see how a site hosted on their service responded. I'd like to host a bunch of photos of various events on a website and let people pull them (hi-res versions) down to their computers, so there would be some serious data throughput, if someone grabbed an entire folder (~200MB at a time).

Ah, my bad. I haven't put much up on mine yet, so I can't say for certain, but from what I've seen it isn't bad at all.

Since it's free and the only info they require is an e-mail address, it would be easy to sign up and find out. ;)

It would NOT be a good hosting site for a lot of hi-res photos, as it only gives you 300MB of file space.

Sorry man, but I think it looks worse than it did first time around.

The text at the top is pixelated and the font isn't the most "desireable".

Your long list of what each package includes makes the site appear as if it doesn't have much content due to the big spaces on either side of it (the list).

I think bigger pictures with the same short description under them would be better and maybe have the list as a link at the top or maybe on the order page. Or you could provide a link (Click here to see what each package includes kinda thing) so you're not taking up the whole page with white spaces.

Also, the links on the bottom left (find a domain name and help desk) seem out of place, especially with the picture at the top right.

Another thing, why is there a "Return" button at the bottom of the homepage?

While we're on the subject of site design honestly I've always hated website designs where they cram the content into a fixed size to the center of the screen. HTML just works best IMO when designed to fill up 80%-100% of the page width and to scale with browser resize.

I run at high resolutions (anywhere from 1280x1024 to 1920x1200 depending on which system I'm on) and it annoys me to no end to see wasted screen space like that. This last revision is a bit better than the first in that regard, but is still a fixed size.

And TSJ already mentioned it, but that header image needs to be reworked, it's jagged and quite amateurish looking.
