So I just found out my college has a limit of 1.5 GB upstream and 1.5 GB downstream per week per student. Now I am not too sure how much that actually is but how is that going to affect computer online gaming?

Thanks

You should be fine if online gaming is all you do, but if you download anything from usenet and/or bit torrent that's not a lot of room to work with.

It looks like you're gonna have to cut back on your porn addiction.

Alright so you say it shouldnt hinder online gaming too much. Well say I played Guild Wars every night (doubtful though) would I still be within limit? And what about Xbox Live? Would playing that throw me out of the limit?

Thanks

Wow 1.5 GB upload and no gaming system? That's a shitty internet policy.

Holly hell. Cancel your Guild Wars account. GET OUT OF YOUR ROOM. These will be the best/shortest 4 years of your life. I was in my room to do 1 thing. Sleep. I studied on other floors. I caused trouble on other floors or I lived in the Lobby. Meet AS MANY PEOPLE AS YOU CAN in the first month. Hit up every room, knock on the door, say hello. You never know who you'll end up friends with, but it's always good to know people.

Fuck Xbox Live. If you're into gaming, why play with people that are 100s of miles away. You probably have a hundred gamers with in a square mile. Get 4 guys and set up in a room. Find the rich kid with the projector and go play in his room. Some of my best memories are doing Halo and Halo 2 in coop mode in one sitting. Get some pizza and after a good kill give the guy sitting next to you a high five. Frosh year I remember getting 16 guys in the lobby all playing another floor in CS on a 32 player map. Yelling expletives over the table. Setting up the next strategy on the fly, deciding who should buy what gun and go where.

FYI I didn't drink until I turned 22. It's a personal choice. Point is, drinking/non-drinking, gamer/geek/jock there's too much to do than sit in front of Guild Wars and worry about your 1.5GB/day limit. (Which should be maxed out getting the latest movies, chick flicks first. And let the ladies know you have it if they're interested. It works)

And, there are always ways around the limit. You just have to be smarter than the network.

It was just an example to get my point across. I know I wont be playing it that much once in college.

Our school had the fastest network in like the region during my freshman year, 5 years ago i was dling over 1mb on the network and about 10-15 mb accross the network during transfer. I used to dl 100's of gigs no problem
