Old news ....
My friend just downgraded his 2.6 and couldn't be happier, though he panicked the whole way through since the screen will turn black for a few minutes.......
Everyone with a native 2.5 can upgrade to 2.6 then downgrade to 1.5.

It actually came out (the beta version) before July, they were just testing it out and finalizing it and released a "final" version on the 1st of July.
Have fun with your new 1.5 !!!!!

I just got a 2.6...I wanted to downgrade, but I'm scared, because I heard PSPs can "brick" or some stupid word..

anything with an updatable firmware can brick.
You can always read and study the directions CAREFULLY and EXACTLY and if worse comes to worse, you can buy a PSP modchip and get it installed and that will unbrick you AND put you to the firmware you want (1.5)

Mine's at 1.5, plus I got a handy little tool that lets me play v2 games on 1.5 (GTA Liberty City)

But the installation costs around another $100

Hence, now that the base PSP is only $200, might as well buy a new one instead of a modchip P
