Somehow I just don't like the fact that it's like paying money for a chance to get a referral.

No no! This site has nothing to do with referrals!
It is a brand new "breed" of site.
I guess you could most CLOSELY relate it to WorldWinner, but it's still much different.[/quotef8752086d9]
I understand how it works, but it basically boils down to that.

so? In online poker, you buy virtual chips, use the chips to enter the tournament, and hope you win the tournament in order to make more. It's all the same.

Have you gotten an okay to do this from paypal? i'm pretty sure its against their rules....
GiftMonsterKyle
06-07-2006 10:03:14
As previously mentioned, I agree. It's definately against their rules. Whether he realizes it's gambling or not, it is. You put $3 in and hope you manage to get a "rock", if you get unlucky and don't, you're out $3.

I think you're targetting it at the wrong demographic.
To be blunt, nobody here or on most of the freebie forums, gives a shit about winning rocks or paying money just to have the chance to possibly win a prize.
All they want is to have the gifts (9 times out of ten it's consumer electronics) laid out in front of them, the requirements to not be complicated and for it to appear legit.
Sites which are "dark" really don't work well, unless it fits with what the site is offering. Having a picture of rocks on the front page, instead of what the user can get out of it is also a big turn off. It looks like people win rocks.
The pictures you chose for your gifts aren't particularly good either. If you're offering CD's or DVD's you should be objective and just show a picture of a DVD or CD case, as opposed to a shite movie and an artist that nobody really cares out these days. Even though you say it's a DVD or CD of your choice, people look at the pictures and think "What makes him think I want a copy of Pink Panther?".
I applaud the fact that you at least have the drive to get it set up, but I really don't see it fitting in anywhere in this "scene".

The only way for it to not be gambling is to let everyone have a chance to win regardless of if they donate money or not. Unless giving money is completely optional, then this is text-book gambling. Good luck when you get to the PMITA prison.

Next time you write a paypal scheme jayx, at least try and make it look presentable, and believable. I italicized some errors, run-ons and mistakes for you.
Thank you for using papal period, not exclamation point. Also when trying to con users into a pyramid scheme it is probably a good idea not to use the words pyramid, or scheme in you presentation.
On the main page when you say exchange and put it in quotation marks, that doesn't make the site look illegal at all.

I'm with TryinToGetPaid....I'm confused? We really don't win rocks?
I'm very sad now.
From the site
{After much negative outlook to the layout, and concept of this site...
We are going to change it.
Changes will include
-All games will be free
-Layout will be brighter and more "pleasant"
-Only time you will pay is for membership
-Concept of "pebbles" will be erased
-The concept of winning rocks and exchanging them for a prize may be changed
-More variety of prizes
Feedback appreciated.}
Site undergoing some drastic changes.
Should be back up within a few days.

Wow, did this guy put any thought into this site before he went live with it?
How can he not see that is gambling to begin with. Only after everyone points that out, he goes back and redoes the entire concept of the site. It is apparent that he doesn't have the forethought to run a site like this.
