Has anyone been to Cedar Point in Ohio? If so, did you think it was a good place to visit, and how were the so called beaches on Lake Erie?

I went to Lake Erie, Pennsylvania and it was nothing special...not sure how it is in Ohio.
By the way, Hilary was pretty hot before she became anorexic.

Yeah, I know. Owell, maybe she will put on some weight.
Well, we were thinking about going to Cedar Point and it said there were beaches on Lake Erie, but I didnt know how good they would be, thought they might be kinda cold...

i've been there 2-3 times, never for the lake though. The rides are definitly awesome but make sure to go on a mon-wed morning, other wise have fun waiting 3.5 hours on a saturday afternoon instead of 30 minutes on a tuesday morning.

Cedar Point is the best theme park in the world. Half my family lives 30 minutes from Sandusky, and I've been going to Cedar Point every summer for 15 years. 2 years I ago I even got my girlfriend to ride her first rollercoaster there.

How badass is the top thrill dragster? I want to ride that thing sooo bad, but it's a long way from FL. I can't complain about Universal, Islands of Adventure and all the Disney parks though. They just don't have anything in the same league as that dragster ride.
I go there about once a year aswell, I know that if you stay in one of the hotels there I'm pretty sure you get in a hour early which is good to get first in line for the good rides. And i don't remember beaches but I live near lake michigan which has really nice beaches so i doubt erie compares. Also top thrill dragstar is sweet, at the top you look straight down and think o shit.

best. place. ever.
yes, there are 'beaches' around, but its not that great, i dont think.
raptor is my all time favorite ride, really.
and about it being cold if you go in the winter, it will be. really... its so damn hot in the summer. take lots of sunblock. it can get pretty miserable. soooo worth it, though.
Also if you go in the summer, they have to give you free water because I think there is a law in Ohio requiring it, so save money and don't buy bottled water, just get glasses of ice water, will save you.

Anyone here been to Worlds of Fun and Cedar Point? Ive been to WOF tons of times, so I was wondering how they compare.
The reason we were thinking about Cedar Point is cause we were trying to decide where to go on vacation, and on the Travel Channel it was voted best theme park of 2006, but if anyone else has any other suggestions of good places to travel in the US let me know cause I think we want to go somewhere with beaches....

Those of you have been to Cedar Point, is it big enough that you need to spend two days at the park?

I've been to Cedar Point, it's like 3 hours away. I hate heights, so I don't like roller coasters, but that park is still nice.
Like any park, food is really expensive.

I'm 99% sure it's not open in the winter... I live a little less than an hour away, and I've been to Cedar Point a few times. I wouldn't go if you are looking forward to nice beaches. It seems like any water in Ohio(other than a heated swimming pool) is cold during any time of the year. Also, weather is always changing and skies are often gray cry Lines are really the only thing that would cause your trip to take 2 days. Another post joked about saying you have ADD, but I am absolutely sure you can be assigned times if you are diabetic(ask your doctor if he/she is nice? ..if no proof it's always worth a try to say you are anyway). Even if you would have to wait in lines, I'm sure you could call in advance and ask which day is least busy. It would also be a good idea to get a map of the park and figure out which rides you want to go on so you dont walk around aimlessly then pick a shitty ride.
start out with the blue streak! its the first coaster, low line, right by entrance, good warmup for the day
top thrill dragster is amazing, along with the raptor, millenium force, magnum, gemini, mantis, mean streak, and power tower
dont go on the death/doom/whatever drop by entrance cause its jsut a shitty version of the power tower..
corkscrew just bangs your head around
iron dragon(i think thats what its called) sucks.
water rides arent very fun in the first place and they soak you for the rest of the day (unless you want to rent out a locker and bring a swimsuit)
i havent tried the new swing (
Also, if you have kids there is "snoopy's kids island" or something with a bunch of rides and there are several smaller rides throughout the park... they will be able to stay busy

no, it is not open in the winter... they have an event for halloween, but thats about it. i was really just addressing the question about thinking it would be too cold there... basically saying that while it is in northern ohio, it is not THAT far north, and it gets downright miserable at times in the summer.
iron dragon is a nice ride in the dark. not intense... i find it very relaxing. and gemini is something i am guilty of riding over and over and over.... there are times where there is NO line, so you have maybe 15 people getting off the ride, running back around to the enterance, and getting on again.... several times in a row. it is wonderful. and of course, the wooden roller coaster/water rule applies to this as well. when millennium (?) force is shut down because the track is too wet and the cars would move at the speed of light, just hit up a wooden coaster. mmmmmmm.

Hehe, we must've been watching the same program about the best waterparks/theme parks. Now I want to go to Schlitterbahn's which was voted the best waterpark in the world and is only about 6hr drive (San Antonio). I also really want to go to Cedar Point so badly. My dad said he's been there, but a long time ago. I'm a huge rollercoaster fan (@Tylerc [i2ce77dd4ce]and[/i2ce77dd4ce] afraid of heights shrug).

I love Cedar Point. It is so amazing! Top Thrill Dragster is by far the BEST rollercoaster ever. That sudden rush is amazing! We went last Sunday (Flew up there). Sandusky is such a small town. It made me crave more. I could spend two days there definitely. Millenium Force is pretty good, as is SKYHAWK. SkyHAWK feels so much more different than maxAIR. Max Air is pretty good, but I liek SkyHawk better for a flat ride. Also, Wicked Twister is great. We rode that like 4 times. I hope I get to go back during September on a Sunday, when no one is there wink!

People are there on Sundays.
Tuesdays and Wednesdays are the best days to go.

I know, I really wished we would have went during the week, but my dad was so busy. cry It was so packed last week. We waited 1 HR and 30 Minutes for TTD. shock Yeah, it was miserable, but fun. The only thing is, they aren't open on Tuesdays and Wednesdays during the Fall.

Yep, I didnt get to see all of it, I didnt even get to see Cedar Point but my parents did. But I've seen Schlitterbahn on other programs and I want to go there really bad too, eventhough I dont even like water parks.
BTW Thanks a lot you guys are really helping a lot. Its good to get a real view than hearing random views online that could be skewed. Im trying to karma you guys but its hard as you can only give one at a time.

I am staying in northeast ohio with some family while i intern. The beaches here suck. Flat out polluted water, gray skies, and dirty/littered sand. The people here arent that great either. The beach consists of ugly chicks, old people, and homeless bums. I am originally from the DC area so i had some trouble adjusting to this environment.
I have been to cedar point three times though since i got here and love it. If you live around here they have promotions and offer good discounts on tickets and great deals on season passes (which pay for themselves if you go more than twice).

I've only been the Cedar Point once, but Brandon has been several times. Actually, the one and only time I went was so Brandon could propose (he wanted it to be a surprise and not make it obvious by doing the romantic dinner thing). D
It was August 19, 2005, and we both ended up with heat stroke and nearly threw up a few times (late summer = OMFG SO HOT!).
