I got my new 300gig SATA OEM drive. I got it in and connected to a
Promise 376 SATA RAID on board connection. The stupid drive won't show up...i have my old 250 gigger on a IDE raid controller i think...i don't know much about "raid" or any of my problems...i've googled and can't find anything...i can't get the drive to show up to even work with it.

I have soltek mobo, and seagate hdd

thats why i always hated sata, hard to deal with (i had a raptor)

i believe you need to load some software either via floppy or cd

You probably need to format it first...a couple ways to do it...I use partion magic but you pry don't have it so what you can do is

Start > Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Computer Management....

Then go to Disk Management and it should show up there as unformatted space....right click on it and hit format...then use whatever options you want and do it...It should then work...

I figured it out...i had to go into my raid setup during boot and add an array....i was guessing through the whole thing...I added it and rebooted then ran the seagate setup tool and it formated the drive and now i have it showing up )

how can you complain about a raptor??? ligawksli

but yeah, sata is a bitch to deal with... and my raptor's 74 gigs just aren't enough... you know its bad when you start using your ipod to store stuff... oops

74 gigs...that is not enough...i have about 500 running through me now...600 and something if u count my semi dead other drive that is still running. I would say 80% is filled too...

yeah I have 600gb spaced out on 3 drives and 90% is full because of movies, tv shows, and music. You could call me a digital pack rat because I never delete anything.

74GB is more than enough for a boot drive. ;)

/pets my 74GB Raptor boot drive and 640GB SATA RAID0 array...

SATA and IDE don't play well together, from my experience. I had to replace the IDE with the SATA, get everything up and running, then add the IDE back in. It was a pain because everything important was on the IDE and I didn't want to have to reinstall. Oh well...
