19", unless you like widescreens. I've got an older version of the 17" and it's fine for me.

I'd take the widescreen personally.

I have the 19 inch and it is really nice. The 20 is only an inch more, but it's widescreen, if you plan to get this prepare for some compatibility issues.

Like the widescreen or not, the E series are the cheapo crap business models. The UltraSharp series is their high-end LCD series and are most excellent -- so while I'm not a fan of 20" widescreens (got to be 24" or higher to get my attention), between those three the 2007FPW is by far the best.
And are you sure those pictures go with the listed model numbers? I know Dell just redesigned all their LCD's, but typically the E series and the UltraSharp series look distinctly different, and those 3 monitors all look like UltraSharps. I haven't seen the new style E's though, but I'd be surprised if they made them all look identical...

The widescreen compatiblity issues you might have are with some games. Most games do not support a native 1610 widescreen mode, instead stretching the image to fill the screen which distorts the aspect ratio, making onscreen objects and characters look short and fat (much like stretching a 43 SDTV image onto a 169 HDTV screen).
BF2, for example, does not support native widescreen resolutions.
However Windows itself, assuming you have a semi-recent video card, will support wide desktop resolutions. And if yours doesn't, you could most likely use a tool like PowerStrip to create a custom resolution.

ok, well this is the story
i actually have the e196fp 19" monitor right now. im staring at it as i type this
but, i just ordered the 20.1" 2007fpw and i wanted to make sure that it was better. most of the responses im getting from other forums are that the 20.1" ultrasharp is going to be much better than the 19", so im happy )
thx everybody
I would get the 2007fp rather then the widescreen.

I have the Dell 19" e196fp and got it for $239 with some pretty sweet coups from slickdeals.net its amazing.
I'd go with the 20.1" Widescreen.

what are the price differences? No price matter, then the 20.1", if there is a big factor, go w/ the 19 or 17...

the price difference is this
i already have the 19" e196fp, so it's $0
i was never going to downgrade to a 17" lcd, so that's out of the question
the 20.1" widescreen is about $420(ish) retail, but i just bought it for $189.00 from dell.com
and im selling my 19" lcd to my dad for $190
so i'm making $1 )
i wjust wanted to see what everybody thought about switching from a normal lcd to a widescreen
