transfering files from an OLD computer

i have this old computer in my basement and i wanted to transfer the files on it, but................
it has NO burner or USB


3 1/2 floppy would take too long

is my only option to upload from the old comp from ftp and then download them to my computer??

any suggestions

if they are on the same network, you can just connect each other on AIM and send them..

Thats not that bad of an idea actually.

If it has an ethernet port, you can connect to it directly and create a network, then just copy the files over through the "shared" folder(s).

Not everyone realizes you can simply connect directly using an ethernet cable...people are so used to USB/FireWire that it is often overlooked.

Gotta make sure its a crossover, not a standard cat6.

And you have to set them to the same workgroup and one IP as 192.168.0.1 and one IP as 192.168.0.2. Then just share the folders...

I remember dealing with this years ago on a PC that didn't have an ethernet card, and I ended up doing it over parallel port. )
