Does anyone else have a reoccuring dream? Mine does not happen every night, but I have it atleast 2 or 3 times a week. My dream is about the world getting taken over by aliens, but the aliens are police officers, so the 'police' pick people up and they think they are getting saved but they die. It must be the drugs.......

Look into lucid dreaming. Not only can I guarantee that you'll stop having reoccurring dreams, but it will basically improve your life (waking and sleeping) in general.

TryinToGetPaid

But I had it last night, and no drugs were taken at all.....

Lucid Dreaming? Explain......

ilanbg

23-06-2006 11:45:46

A lucid dream is one in which you can control your dream. I got into it about two years ago and I've had maybe two nightmares since, and no reoccurring dreams. Not to mention it's just fucking awesome to be a god in a dream; you can do [i40c48cc8fe]anything[/i40c48cc8fe].

Well in my dreams, I am the only one who knows what is going to happen. So I am not really scared of whats going to happen, like everyone else in the dream, I just have to tell others what is going on. But I am definately going to try and find that book, it sounds very intresting. And when you say you can do anything, what does that mean? Can you change your enviroment and what is going during your dream?

You can change your environment, you can use a Jedi Mind Trick to get the people in your dreams to do what you want, and you can create a separate universe if you want to (though chances are likely that you'll wake up if you try something too difficult).

Check out Wikipedia's entry[=http//en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lucid_dreaming]Wikipedia's entry for more info as well.

Yeah. Many people are often lucid in their dreams, but most of them don't do much about it. I was never lucid until I started looking seriously into the subject. shrug

Probably about a year ago I started to do it, I was just dreaming and then bam I knew it was a dream I was having and that I could do anything I wanted to. Then I started to be able to do it all the time.

while we are on the subject kind of.. has anyone ever tried that mind travel hypnosis stuff? its when you hypnotize yourself and you are supposed to be able to travel anywhere you want in your mind and its supposed to be the actual environment, not a dream.. i forgot the name of it though, i read about it a while back and how they claimed its used in the military.. but i have a hard time believing it would work.

paranormal stuff can be really fascinating.. im still hoping that in my lifetime, some sort of a time machine will be invented. lol that would be the coolest thing ever made.

i used to have this dream/nightmare, nothing scary happened, just repetetive things going on, and it would happen like once a week or so, when I was little... i still kind of remember it, there were lots of voices, and gray cards w/ dots on them, like they were computerized...

have no idea what it had to do with or anything...

I doubt a time machine will ever be invented. Think about it. If we went back in time, then we would mess everything up because it would mess with what happened in the past. Kinda like the Butterfly Effect. We go back and invent things that happened today, back in the Medieval times, we would be much more advanced today, which I don't know if that would be good or not.

Since the topic of Lucid Dreaming and Astral Projection is starting to be brought up often, I thought I'd share the sound files in my collection that do just that.

I can't vouch for the Astral Projection file, because I never tried it.. But I tried the Lucid Dreaming once and.. well.. You can read all about that in the other thread.

do not get excited right away. this will usually indefinatly wake you up. when you start to get real excited, rub your hands together and spin in circles. The "friction" of your hands in your dream will make it hard to break you from your dreamworld because you are using one of your senses. I'm not exactly sure why the spinning works, but it does. D Don't close your eyes for longer than a blink.... This can wake you up too. If you want to do something out of the ordinary in your dream (make someone/something appear, fly, etc...) you [i04323f21c9]really[/i04323f21c9] have to believe it will happen, or it won't. That's all I can think of for now, so, Good Luck!

Good advice cwncool; didn't know about the friction of the hands.

I don't know why the spinning helps either, except that balance (affected by spinning) takes place in the brain; maybe just keeping it as engaged as possible is all it takes.

But to be honest I really don't think giving you advice on your first try will be helpful; it's really hard to maintain concentration in lucid dreams and it's basically guaranteed that you'll either wake up from concentration or you'll immediately forget you were lucid.

Someone sent these to me awhile back (I have them archived with a bunch of other junk on a DVD). I only listened to DISC 1 a couple of times and I never read the PDF that came with these discs.

I'm not saying any of this shit is real. I just have these because I was also curious about sleep induction, lucid dreaming and brainwave entrainment at one time. So I pretty much grabbed what I could get my hands on.

I dream a lot. I can fall asleep for 10 minutes and have a full dream. I only remember having two lucid dreams. They were both a long time ago. In one I was at my junior high. I realized it was a dream, so I decided to do stupid stuff. I threw myself down concrete stairs several times and then decided to jump off the roof (It doesn't really kill you wink ) The other one I got myself to start flying. I was going over a river and open fields. It was pretty sweet. If I could induce a lucid dream and control it any time I wanted it would be pretty sweet.

try keeping a dream journal of the dreams you remeber. write them down immediatly as you remember them. at first i could barely remeber one in a long while and then I could remember 3-4 a night! )

I tried this out last night and I succeeded. When I wanted to get out I tried to wake myself up and I was temporarily paralyzed.

When I opened my eyes I saw my room all distorted with a deformed cat above my bed with it's mouth hanging open. I sat there for about 60 seconds unable to move and my nerves were tingling. I kept struggling to move but I just couldn't. Finally my brain rearranged the picture of my room in my eyes kind of and I returned to normal consciousness.

The lucid dream was pretty cool and I'm extremely surprised I got it on my first try. It was hard to control though because I lost my sight in the dream and I tried to stay unconciouss and it felt like I was waking up but I stayed in there a little longer. I forgot to rub my hands or spin in circles.

In an earlier dream last night I was talking to someone about lucid dreams and I didn't realize that I was actually in one. Kind of ironic.

Anyway, has anyone else dealt with this temporary paralyzation?

I guess I'm not the only one, I found this in their forums -

This is definitely the best advice there is for lucid dreaming. There's no point in getting good at lucid dreaming if you don't remember it in the morning.

Yeah I did leave it running all night. I had Theysayjump's Natura 2.0 running with the Lucid Dream preset. I've been using the sleep induction preset for the past couple nights but last night I did the lucid dreaming one.

It emits a theta brainwave thing while playing "babbling brook" and it is really relaxing. I wasn't expecting to lucid dream on my first try and it was really cool.

Be careful when you decide to leave one though because getting paralyzed isn't very pleasant (it might not happen to you but it does happen for a lot of people). Next time I have a lucid dream I'm staying until my body awakes me, not me awaking myself from it.

ilanbg

29-06-2006 20:52:27

The body paralysis is induced by a hormone your body releases when you enter REM. It's to prevent sleep walking.

The next time it happens, just concentrate on waking yourself mentally, not physically. If you struggle against the paralysis, your body will release more hormones and will paralyze you further.

The best thing to do in one of those situations is relax and allow yourself to wake up naturally.

Alright I'll try that next time. Last night I didn't lucid dream and I remember my dreams very clearly. They were extremely bizzare but I just thought they were normal in my dream. I should practice more reality checks during the day and look for dream signs during the day so I'll remember to do it in a dream.

H3X's thing kinda worked last night. For the first time in weeks i can actually remember my dream.... However the second i realised i was dreaming i woke up (

My dream was really stupid/weird

First i saw a really weird looking fish. The next thing i know im using a knife to take the skin of the fish. The fish was cut in half and i could see blood ozzing out it. After i finished I wanted to show it to someone (dont remember who) but the person was dead when found him.

i dont eat fish (or seafood for that matter) so i dont know why the hell id have such a ridiculous dream roll

Edit Tonights dream

I didnt have a ludic dream but im able to recall it for the second nightin a row. It was another weird one....

At first I was watching MTV in HD (in real life i hardly watch mtv and i dont have it in HD) and i remember me and my sisters being suprised that we had it. I changed the channel and i was watching another show.
i think i t was a high school graduation going on or something.
I see the "subtitle 5 years later" I see a bunch of people then all the sudden im IN the show
and i see a kid at a window of the school. the kid was yelling at another kid about something and all the sudden starts throwing knives at him shock all the sudden i see a bunch of cars around and me and everyone else starts taking cover. The kid that was being yelled at is
still having knives thrown at him by the other kid and even though he was hiding behind a car as well it seems like he was getting hit because although i couldnt see him. (the car i was hiding behind was blocking my view obviously) I could hear the sound of the knives hiting him and his screams... Eventually the kid at the window says he gonna beat him up after schol and leaves. Then i wake up shock

Last night I had a lucid dream. I haven't had one in a long time. I wasn't trying to, but I guess all this talking about it caused it. I was in one place when I realized it was a dream, then suddenly I was in my basement. In my lucid dreams I love to fly. It's so fun. So, I floated upstairs and flew outside. I was flying over people in my front yard. Somehow I knew that I was starting to wake up, and was trying not to. I woke up for a minute and passed back out. I had the exact same dream again, but this time it went longer and I brought some girl inside and... wink

J4320

04-07-2006 00:48:01

Yeah you definitely shouldn't depend on the sounds played on the computer to achieve lucid dreaming. You have to be ready for it in dreams and realize that you're in a dream.

Lately it's been hard for me even when nothing in the dream makes sense at all. ?

Studies have lead to the conclusion that a person always has deams through the cycle of unconciousness as he/she is in REM process. The dreams a person remembers is based on its impact on the person's emotions.

I never thought I had had a lucid dream before but when someone said they were jumping off something it totally jogged my memory. I had this one dream a few years ago where I was really high up (maybe on top of a small building or something), I realized it was a dream so I jumped down. It didn't hurt at all, so I kept doing it because it was fun as hell. I definitly remember knowing it wasn't real too. I definitly want to get into this stuff now!

im trying to play with the volume of h3x's thing
when i have it loud it think its more effective but its harder to actually fall asleep. I tried last night with the volume barely high enough to hear it

I had 2 dreams. The first one was kinda scary and i choose not to try to recall it. Te second dream was of me standing on a scale and seeing that i lost 5 pounds. D I realised this couldnt be because i ate a lot on july 4th and i woke up instantly. I checked the scale and it turns out i actually GAINED 2 pounds roll

The way I got the Lucid Dreaming to work was I had the mp3 on an ipod and listened to it with the headphones on repeat all night long while I went to bed. The tones played continously and that must have triggered my experience. Try giving that a shot instead of playing them through speakers.

Ive had lucid dreams on occasion, sometimes I wake up from them and get angry and I go back to sleep to resume my dream.

I have always had a problem with nightmares. Things that I guess I am afraid of in my life, falling on the sidewalk knocking my teeth out (I wake up with pain in my teeth), my husband cheating on me/abandoning me, being chased, falling, surrounded by strangers in a dark place wanting to do me harm, being lost. Sometimes I wake up in tears or sweating. I don't think I have had a pleasant dream I can remember for a few years.

The headphones seem to be working well. But i cant fall asleep with them on. (maybe i should use my ipod headphones insted of the behind the ear ones?) so I listen for a little while then i turn it off and go to sleep.
in my dreams (which ive been remembering more than ever before)
im starting to question things. EX last night i had a dream that i was working at staples and after i took what i thought was a quick break accordign to the clock several hous had passed and i remember thinking that didnt make any sense. Then i saw my mom working there and she said "just let me get my paycheck and we'll go" I remember saying to myself "mom doesnt work at staples..." Then i woke up.

seem like im getting close. Ive been keeping a dream journal on a word document and as ilanbg said its not nearly as tedious as i thought it would be.

I decided not to use the headphones all night again. I cant fall asleep with the sound thing on.... My dream recall has risen A LOT since ive started keeping a journal. After i woke up from this dream i decided ive really gotta work on finding dream signs....

First I was crawling through a tunnel and it was really low but really wide. It was really hard to go through it at times but when I turned around horizontally It helped a lot and I would be sliding down. After a minute or 2 I finally made it to the end of the tunnel.
And I started playing a game of basketball (I SHOULD HAVE KNOW IT WAS A DREAM RIGHT THEN AND THERE BECAUSE I HATE BASKETBALL SO FUCKING MUCH THAT I WOULD NEVER EVER AGREE TO PLAY IT) and it was weird because we were playing half court basketball (boys vs girls) and the other half of the room had several rows of desks with people sitting down. Someone passed me the ball and I tried to make a shot. The ball bounced off the rim and hit a girl in the face. The girls said they should get the ball because the girl was hit. Some guy too the ball away and hid it under his yellow jacket so we had to play with an egg
Somehow through the course of the game I got the egg and tried to make a shot. It hit the backboard, bounced back into my hands and then it cracked in three pieces. It was empty. O_O I was staring at the three pieces in my hand and I woke up.

i just had a realllly scaryass dream, i managed to realize it was dream right at the end. It shook me up though when i woke up and i'm right by the comp so i wanted to share.

aight, so i'm in the forest with 3 other guys and this girl whos a few yrs older then us (almost like a counselor type deal), i've known her for a year or two. We are in the forest, but its not any forest...its like the forest here in mighigan mixed with some savanah type shit. So there are some crocodiles, snakes are all over the place, and Noelle (the older girl) even points out a lion and is like, 'hey guys, look, its a small forest lion!' I also forgot to mention there are these old abandon buildings, that don't really add anything but make it spooky as all hell. (how did i not know it was a dream at this point lol)

Okay... so while the others are doin somethin else a few ft away I walk up on this little hill and look as far as i can see, by this time its getting dark too and the moon just came out, i couldnt see it though. Maybe 200 yrds away theres this picnic table. Ontop of the table is that lion we saw before but with three other lions this time, and they are all trying to get to something hiding up in the tree. Well, one turns its head towards me and its eyes just light up from the moon. I duck down but then all of them turn toward me and just stare, and then slowly jump down off the table and start to trot over here. My heart is beating really fast at this point. I run off the hill and yell to the other people and we sprint to this van not too far away. i'm the last one on the van and before i get in the lions are are maybe 5 ft away just standing there lookin at me.

I reach down to grab a rock or something off the ground and i remember to look at my hands, i look at them and nothing really happens but they feel really different, maybe smaller or something, like far away/distant (i can't discribe this part sorry). Then i remember saying to myself "this is a dream!"

Thats all i remember but the scariest part was when i woke up i heard this low hum of a harley outside and I thought it was a lion growling... I jumped off the couch from a lying position. my heartrate is just now back to normal lol

When you realize it's a dream, you don't always think about the stuff you wanted to do. You kind of have to concentrate on it and know that's what you want to do.

The music was playing and I was drifting off to sleep. After 7 minutes or so it felit like I wwas falling and I was surrounded by white. I couldnt see myself, I saw the outline of a ball and tried to make myself go torwards it but it kept going farther. The whole time I felt like I was falling. Really wierd.

I have to admit none of those sound waves have helped me at all, thus far. The most effective way to develop strong lucid habits is to create associations, I've found. For example, during my daily life I am very confident. Whenever I get scared, at any time, I do a reality check to see if I'm dreaming. After just a few tries of this I now become lucid during any nightmare, whatsoever. This same technique can be applied to any of the patterns you notice in your dreams (hence why a dream journal is very useful; it makes it easier to detect patterns in your dreams).

[quote7add1554c3="Berky34"]Whenever I realize I'm in a dream I'll probably materialize Melissa Midwest and then I'll proceed to........... play cards with her.... yeahhh[/quote7add1554c3]

I cannot count how many times I've done this (though not with MM; usually other celebrities or people I know that I want to fuck).

[quote7add1554c3="drummer_kew_03"]When you realize it's a dream, you don't always think about the stuff you wanted to do. You kind of have to concentrate on it and know that's what you want to do.[/quote7add1554c3]

I've found it's easier to decide what you want to do before going to sleep; once you become lucid just focus everything on remembering that you're lucid and doing the thing you wanted to do; analyzing (what you want to do) is more difficult than remembering (what you wanted to do).
