I got a new phone (LG VX8300) that can play MP3.

I'm looking to purchase a MicroSD card.

I like the 1GB SanDisk on Outpost.com, which is $34.99. I doubt a 1 GB will go much lower, even on sale.

I'll also need some adapter/reader/cable (not sure what its called) to move data from my computer to the memory card. Any recommendations?

Thanks.

Those guys are NOT Axshop. They seem to be based in China or Hong Kong. Axshop was US based with their [idf3f58f80f]suppliers[/idf3f58f80f] being Asian based.

These could be the guys Axshop sold for, but these guys ship from Hong Kong to you directly. There's some risk with customs fees being applied, so I don't know if I'd do an order with them.

I've ordered from a few different HK vendors, and never had a problem. I've ordered from Brando Workshop a few times, also from LED Shoppe, as well as another I can't remember now through an eBay store. Shipping charges and transit time (couple of weeks) was very reasonable considering how far it was coming, there were no extra customs fees, and their prices were usually most excellent (hence why I ordered from them). So don't rule out HK vendors just because of their location, just make sure it's a reputable company!

Point taken. I should clarify my statement by saying customs fees aren't [i05af724400]always[/i05af724400] the case, but I've heard of unpleasant surprises when picking up packages.

This depends a great deal on what is stated on the customs label. Some sellers will declare the contents as gifts, which isn't quite legal, but often avoids duties. Others might be [i05af724400]too[/i05af724400] literal, and end up costing you.

That's why there [i05af724400]can[/i05af724400] be a risk.

True enough. Trying to slip something past customs is a bad idea and can certainly result in confiscated shipments or unexpected fees. But in my experience, the established and trustworthy vendors that routinely ship to the states realize that and do as they should. At least I've never had something come labeled as a "gift." It might not be a detailed description (who can write a detailed description on those tiny green customs forms anyway?) but it will generally be categorically accurate, like "electronics" or "battery" or "computer parts" or somesuch.

Looks like the Outpost.com MicroSD deal isn't as good as it looks. The shipping kills it (about 6 bucks). It ends up being $41 after rebate.

I can't really/don't want to wait for a hot deal to pop up because I'm leaving for HK in 10 days. So unless I find something significantly lower than the $44.99 Amazon has, I'll be getting it there.

And what do you guys think about this "MobileMate". Some of the reviews are bad, so I'm a little concerned.

IOGEAR Universal Memory Drive Hi-Speed USB 2.0 Memory Card Reader/Writer

The IOGEAR gets better reviews than the Sandisk. Only bad thing is you can't put in on a keychain.

From the picture, does it look like the cap on the SD card will fit over and close? It would be great if it did, so it would just be a thumbdrive.

If that card is all the way in, then no. The rounded corners of the cap give that away.
