Kind of interesting to see what the confederacy wanted to change. I skimmed it, but one thing caught my eye that sounded like a good idea.
[quotecb6f12b3fb]
(3) To regulate commerce with foreign nations, and among the several States, and with the Indian tribes; but neither this, nor any other clause contained in the Constitution, shall ever be construed to delegate the power to Congress to appropriate money for any internal improvement intended to facilitate commerce; except for the purpose of furnishing lights, beacons, and buoys, and other aids to navigation upon the coasts, and the improvement of harbors and the removing of obstructions in river navigation; in all which cases such duties shall be laid on the navigation facilitated thereby as may be necessary to pay the costs and expenses thereof.[/quotecb6f12b3fb]

Short story The changes forbid Congress from spending money to "facilitate commerce." This can be seen as an early attempt to limit the power of big business in politics; Congress was only supposed to fund infrastructure that served the interests of the states and the people, not industry.

Could you imagine the difference in the FDA and oil business?

Also, the CSA put a ban on importing slaves from other countries.

I could see it now.. The 5th Amendment of the CSA allows you to legally marry and interbred with your own mother. roll

Rednecks don't need any power.. Look at what has happened already.

Man, think about it; Our children will have a mental problem.

I hate it when people say," THE SOUTH'S GONNA RISE AGIN!". I mean seriously, it has to one day, because it can't go any lower.

When genetics allow us to manipulate a person's DNA before he's born, inbreeding will have no negative effects.

i dont know, ur sister is pretty hot ;) twisted ( i bet u dont have one)

another reason for the south to want to limit the government from controlling commerce is that they were for state government power over federal power. also, when u have billions in tobacco, cotton, and slaves would u want that regulated -> less profits?
