I'm looking for adults to answer this or for people who have experience with credit cards.

I need one for long term

I need one with 0%apr first year, after first year low apr

no annual free's.

I need a card that is popular and excepted everywhere. Also a card that doesn't need to be fully paid off every month.

thx!

If you have no current credit, it might be difficult. I got a 0% for a year card for my Chase checking account. You can always try to get one by opening an account with them lishrugli

My Chase card is a Visa card.

Yeah, without established credit it will to tough to fine one with a "good" rate. If you're in college, try some of the college cards offered by the big names like Chase, Citi, Capital One, etc. My very first credit card (over 20 years ago) was a Chase Manhattan college card. I think it had a $500 credit limit. )

I scored several years ago with a "5.9% for life" Capital One Platinum MC. It's not only 5.9% on purchase, but also on transfers and cash advances, with no transactions fees ever (usually advances are like 21.9% plus a fee). Basically 5.9% for ANYTHING you can do with it. Needless to say, I have no plans to ever get rid of that card. Even when I have a good sized balance ($4000-$5000), the finance charge is like $25/month. )

I also have a Citi Platinum Plus card with not nearly as great a rate, but it has several features I like and a humongous credit limit, so I keep it around too.

something that I would suggest is if you are not looking to make a major purchase/debt purchase/loan in the near future, u can actually get a credit card that u use for all your purchases and then have one that has 0% balance transfers. u can get a discover clear card that will give u bonus $20 rewards points and 0% apr/transfers for 6 months. and u can get it doing an offer on a free site )
another thing to do is if u find a card like the discover get that and use it for 6 months and then in your last month get a another 0% card.

i have about 8 credit cards. this counts department store credit cards. in the 12 years that i have had my own card I have paid finance charges twice, both the last two months ) that is a long story. anyway, I suggest a citibank card. amex is great if u can get a no-fee amex that has comparable rewards as a citicard. we have earned 100,000 reward points in two years. just think that that is $1000 in reward points (i can get it as a student loan payment) that i would not have gotten had I not had a rewards card.
of course if u have a high apr and dont pay it off then you may lose more than u gain

Then you should be able to shop around for good rates, however most won't just give them to you over the phone. You have to be "invited" to the best rate offers.

This is where those annoying "pre-approved" CC offers that fill up your mailbox come in handy. That's how I got that 5.9% card -- the offer just showed up in the mailbox one day. At the time I was unhappy with the CC I had and was already thinking of closing it, when this one landed in my mailbox. I couldn't believe the permanent 5.9% rate, so I jumped on it. I expected them to change their terms and increase the rate a year or two into it, but I've had the thing for 6 or 7 years now and it's still at 5.9%. It's funny because they keep sending me these offers to transfer balances to the card at 0% for a full year, but doing so will initiate new terms on the account and I'll lose the 5.9% rate. No thanks. )

I was talking about snail mail. I'd be wary of any CC offers via e-mail, unless it comes from a bank you already have a relationship with. Legitimate pre-approved offers come from credit report screens that don't contain your e-mail address. Any e-mailed offers outside of your normal banking relationships will be coming from bulk spammers that have no idea about you. Legitimate banks rarely if ever spam good CC offers.
