Tonight I bought a 250gb WD HD at Best Buy. $80 after instant rebate. I also got an Adaptec enclosure.

Getting the hard drive and everything put together wasn't hard, but now it says for Macs I need a Macintosh compatible ATA Controller Card.

Cool, I don't have one, or know what it even is.

What should I do? Also, if I set it up on my PC, will my Mac (iBook G4) read it as a USB drive?

Ok, I set it up on my PC and tried it out on my Mac.

It says I can't move files onto it because it cannot be modified.

WTF

Ah, it did NTFS by default, I reformatted into FAT32.

I've got a 250 external...it's sweet...I partioned most of it as NTFS,but left like 15 gigs as fat32 in case I do ever feel the need to go back and forth...

Windows XP will read FAT32 right?

It's just that lesser versions of Windows won't read NTFS.

fat32 = most cross-platform compatible format

Ok, good, that's what I formatted all of it to be.
