what?

Are these the thoughts that roam thru your head the entire day.

Why are you so worried about mothers maiden name. Its not the end all determinant of who someone is its just an additional security purpose. The most important info you have to yourself is your social sec #. If you can get someones ss # I'm pretty sure you can get their mothers maiden name without even asking for it.

Identity theft is more or less effortless. I've handed my debit card to probably a dozen people this week. Any of them could have probably recorded the number.

When I was a waiter, I handled dozens of CCs a [id93763b604]day[/id93763b604]. I could have probably spend a good 10K online if I recored all the numbers I came in contact with on a single shift.

ya theyd all trace one of the reciepts back to where you work which may open an investigation. Not a smart move.

Well obviously. My point is that this kind of information is handed out on a daily basis.

Although if I took only a few cards and spent them over a series of a few months, I'd probably get away with it. In such a small town as mine, people are bound to shop in the same places.

As easy as it is to steal someone's identity, I can't imagine it happening in the situation you described.

But just because I'm paranoid, I've assigned code names for my family members for a while now. I refer to my mother as "Cobra-6" when I'm in public.

And she probably gave you a fake phone number too.

Ye, but she sent back the flowers.

I was allergic to them anyway, so it's just as well.
