What type of GPA and SAT scores would you need to get into UCLA, Northwestern (IL), or Cornell? Those are my three top choices with my in-state school as a safety. Does weighted GPA mean anything? If not, does taking AP/Honors classes mean anything other than getting college credit?

taking advance (ap/honor) classes does help. GPA and SAT all count. If you're in state then your chances are a lot higher. Some colleges accept weighted GPA some don't, so it all depends.

Dosent your post say Northwestern is in (IL) and UCLA (Ca)? How are you in-state for both.... ?

Sorry, I meant to say that my in state college, University of Arizona, is my safety school.

UCLA will be hard to get into, you'll probably need higher than a 4.0 and at least 2100 on the SATs

I doubt that....as long as you're well rounded it shouldnt require that high of a grade.

I have a friend who got into UC Berekely with like a 3.8-3.9

i had a 3.8, 8 AP classes with 6 of them scoring 5s on and a 1580 on my SAT when they were out of 1600 and i didn't get into UCLA so good luck. but its also probably because i'm asian and UCLA is already half asian so they were like we don't need anymore of you. (

Well my current weighted GPA is a little over 4.0 and my unweighted is round a 4.7

i got into UCLA with a 3.7 and a 1390 (out of 1600). i don't know anyone with a higher SAT score personally who got in, but i know others with higher GPAs and lower SATs. just try to make yourself seem as well-rounded as possible, and if there are any extrinuating circumstances that the application & essay don't seem to have room to address, find a way to throw it in anyway. its how i got in D

northwest requires ACT so be sure to take that, as well as the SAT

it might want to be okay with just sat, but be nice, they might let you in D

you fucking scored amazing high on the SAT, i know someone that got a 1600 and got a full ride to MIT so maybe you made a mistake? and your gap is only 3.8

Yeah i got screwed over some how. My gpa was a 3.8 out of a 4.0. my school counted As in AP classes as they would a regular class so if i had my shit weighted, i wouldve had like a 4.8 or something. ah well no big deal.

haha! I stopped caring about school when I was in like, 2nd grade!! Good luck with whatever college you choose / are accepted to. I'm hard at work paying off all of my student loans! a bit of advice to others (that haven't graduated yet), if your school offers a Post Secondary option, (you get to take college classes while in high school), TAKE IT! I took that instead of a few AP classes, and got the college credit without having to take the AP test, my grade there didn't go for my HS gpa, and it let me graduate from college early! )

I live in Chicago, Northwestern is a pretty good school, i go to U of I which is also a great school too...i would definetly say a min of 3.5 and do well on your ACT/SAT, but most importantly colleges also look at activities, so get some volunteer work in as well as hold some time of official position, IE president, Vice-president, secretary, etc..that can boose your chances.

liFYI go to each college site and look at the quick facts about incomming students, it will post average ACT/SAT, average GPA, etc

get a 3.8 or higher hold atleast 2 high president rankings in a club or sport. do atleast 1 sport and letter. score over a 31 on ACT and over a 2100 on SAT. Oh and have taken atleast 3 AP classes senior and junior year(and of course atleast 2 honors classes sophmore year.

and most important of ALL GET ALL A'S JUNIOR YEAR. you don't really have to, but that'll secure your admission into the highest of schools.

Indiana University-Bloomington.

If you're looking at business, Business Week magazine just ranked Kelley School of Business #10 in the nation, behind schools like Penn and New York University. The only public school to rank higher were University of Virginia and University of Michigan.
