Does anyone here have the Motorola Q? The Verizon store next to me only has three left so they are going to hold one for me so I can get it when I get off work. They said they are $199 right now will go up to $299 or something because the deal expired yesterday. My contract doesn't expire until December but I would like to get it now. Does anyone have the phone? I heard the phone is great as purely a text messenger and a speakerphone. The os I heard is laggy though. Just wanted to get some opinions before I make the decision final.

I normally like Motorola gear. Every cellphone I've owned since about 1995 or so has been a Motorola. And then the RAZR came along. Got one for my daughter for Xmas and I hate it. Thin looks cool and all, but trying to hold on to the thing is a pain. The Q looks about as thin. I have large hands and prefer a little heft and something to hold onto, which is why I went with the Cingular 8125 variation of the HTC Wizard/Apache type smartphone.

I do like the fact that Motorola went with a "full-size" display of 320x240. The Treo's still use the square 240x240 which I hate.

i have it right now. i actually got it a day before it came out officially and it is the worst piece of shit i have ever used. I had a treo 650 before. The active sync is horrible. It checks your email every 15 minutes and a lot of the email checking from the active sync server is delayed. I get emails every 15 seconds so checking my email every 15 minutes is outrageous. I sent a test email to myself and didn't get it for 26 minutes while my inbox picked it up instantly. The software is a little sluggish when you try and do heavy duty work.

I ended up going with cingular's blackberry 8700 and that is by far a much better phone.

I think it really depends on what you want. If you aren't using it for hardcore business purposes, the Q might be a good fit for you. It has a camera phone and everything so for the average user, the new style and everything is very appealing. But if you're doing work stuff like me, I would suggest the Blackberry 8700 or even stick with a treo for now. The Q is going to be available for cingular in sept / oct of this year and they're going to do major changes to the system and the active sync firmware so i might wait until then.

I returned my Q and the 110 a month plan for a full refund and got the blackberry.

If text messaging and speack phone are the main features your looking for. Than the LG VX9800 is the way to go. I fucking love this phone.

Motorola interface blows. If you need something simple and reliable get treo 650 or 700p. If you want something that can do a LOT of stuff, get the 6700, or if on cingular get the 8125.

I like how thin it is. I am going to try it out tonight to make sure it works alright. If not, I may get the Treo or just wait until my contract is up.

I got this phone last week and I absolutely love it.

also FYI, even though the unlimited data is expensive at 80$/month you should definitly get it to receive the 100 discount. after three months cancel if you want, 3 months unlimited data for $20 difference.

It's what, $30 extra for the internet? I have to check to make sure that the internet is required in order to get the phone at $199. I am going to renew my contract so that I can get the phone at that price hopefully.
