What do you guys think of it?

Do you believe it?

How did your experiences go with it?

I did one tonight. I'll share later.

I think you spelled it wrong, Google suggested this Ouija instead of Oujii. shrug Gotta read up on it, but here's a link for those too lazy to google it http//skepdic.com/ouija.html

What happened with yours YourGiftsFree? I've stayed away from those things too but I've never really been around one.

I did one when I was about 10 in Primary School. The teacher had one and brought it to school. He took the whole class up to the top floor fo the school (it's about 400 years old) to the attic where some of the music classroom were.

He let about 4 of us at a time touch the glass and it would glide around the board, pointing to letters, answering questions and shit but nothing fucked up really happened.

Then he said we should leave, so we went out and sat in the corridor for about 10 minutes, went back in and the Ouija Board and the glass was on top of this huge (6ft) cabinet.

Then we shat oursleves.

I've done them a few times over the years but they've been pretty unsuccessful.

Well,

It was me and 3 other friends. At first nothing happened. We tried it again and said, "Hello is anybody there" and the triangle dial moved to yes. We asked it if our passed away relatives were happy and they were. All my friends talked to there's. I said, can I talk to my grandpa. It said no. I said can you send him a message? It said yea. Then we said who is this. It went to 6 6 6. Then it went to j k, as in just kidding. Thats basically the short short version. There was one "spirit" that someone asked if it knew how to spell, because it spelled boy boi. It went to yes and went to A B C D E F G etc. Pretty freaky but cool. Theres alot more but its to long.

That's really freaky. You sure it wasn't one of your friends though? If they typed boy, "boi", that seems a little fishy along with "jk" for just kidding.

YourGiftsFree

11-06-2006 21:31:53

Its not typing.

You put your hand on a triangular glass thing and you ask a question and the triangular thing moves to the letters and words. I knew it was true as I had my hands on it the whole time just me once.

If you want to do a typing spirit trick google pedro responde.

Well, I didn't mean "type" exactly, my fault. I meant like, how do you know your friends aren't moving the glass thing to the letters but if you did it by yourself then that would be impossible. These things really freak me out.

YourGiftsFree

11-06-2006 21:37:45

It freaks me out too.

The glass circle is like 1 by 1 inch. You cant tell if they are moving it. You put your finers on lightly.

J4320

11-06-2006 22:05:35

I think they are real. My teacher told me about a kid who kept playing with that stuff and it freaked him out so he ripped it apart and walked out of the room. When he came back it was all put back together.

Believe it if you want to or not. But yeah, these things do move and say messages. I really believe there is a spiritual side to this world.

Wolfeman

11-06-2006 22:20:41

Do it every night and poop on it. Its plastic, mass produced in some factory. Not that anyone can contact spirits but I don't think a kids game is your window into the great beyond. People that have "weird things" happen are looking for weird stuff to happen. Its how physics and palm readers work...

My other friend did it. They were abusing it getting an unknown "spirit" and makin fun of it. It spells out watch this and all of a sudden a lightbulb cracks and the glass makes her knee blead. Also the matt thing I posted above

Its not a game. Everyone puts a few fingers around the triangular glass circle and you wait and ask if anyone is there if so it goes to yes. You ask it questions and it moves by itself to the answer.

I think it would be cool to have a computer mouse shaped like a Ouija marker, and a mousepad like a Ouija board. Spooky games of CounterStrike!

But seriously - I didn't use to believe in weird stuff like that but over the last few years I've gotten less skeptical. There have been several times when I have "just known" something that I had no way of knowing, but it's always dumb stuff like "the washrooms on the third floor are closed for cleaning so try the second floor" instead of "the winning numbers to tomorrow's lottery are ...". liSighli. Also one time I saw someone with an aura, I was just looking out a window down onto the space between two buildings and someone was walking in between them, with a glowing blue aura around their head, sorta misting out behind them. No, they weren't smoking a joint. Neither was I. It was strange, but beautiful.

ajasax

11-06-2006 23:55:32

I don't believe in Ouija boards or that stupid pencil thing either. It's probably the result of the people involved visualizing the answer, and therefore subconsciously moving the triangle piece to the correct place. Although you may think you don't move it, you could be "leading" it to the correct answer.

No one said he is lying just naive in some peoples opinion. One of his friends moved the piece. If some people serious asked me to do it with them I would definately move the thing to see how naive they are. Come on if the spirit really wanted to move a game piece why would they need you to have your hands on it? Why not just touch the cardboard spirit speller to 'channel' your energy or whatever and they can move it themselves. Also in this way of thinking just use your scrabble board, spirits must not be too picky if they talk via some mass produced junk.

Okay people, two words IDEOMOTOR EFFECT. Google it. ;)

Here's some to get you started

http//www.randi.org/encyclopedia/ideomotor%20effect.html
http//www.randi.org/encyclopedia/Ouija%20board.html
http//en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ideomotor_effect

The Ouija has been disproven many times over, but like Randi says, you can't convince people of that once they think they've experienced "something" from a Ouija board.

Next time your group is together for a Ouija session, blindfold everybody but one person, who stands by as an observer. You'll find that the "message" now becomes meaningless garbage, because the participants can't see where they're moving the planchette.

James Randi is my hero, BTW. )

Oh, and I'm not saying I don't believe in certain supernatual entities. I just don't believe a Hasbro board game is their entryway into mortal Earth. )

dmorris68

12-06-2006 12:08:30

Oh, and I should add what scientists and parapsycologists have said abou it the Ouija board and similar things CAN be dangerous to some people, and thus should be avoided. Why? Because impressionable people who convince themselves it is real can become consumed by it, to the point they develop all sorts of fears, phobias, delusions and psychosis because of it.

A few things have happened just these past few weeks actually.

My wife and I live with my mother-in-law, sister-in-law and neice (sister-in-law's daughter). My sister-in-law had just got home from work and I was in the kitchen with all of the above besides my wife. My mother-in-law opened the door to the fridge and something fell out. I bent over to pick it up and I heard a male voice say "Be good" as if they were standing right next to me.

I honestly thought that my sister-in-law had one of her male chruch friends in the house so I picked up whatever fell and started looking for him to say hello. When I couldn't find him then I started wondering what the fuck it was.

Then, about two days later, my wife asked me to get a jewelry box (that's made out of shells my mum bought in Egypt and it has a rounded, hill-like lid on a hinge) from the basement that had my mums jewelry she was wearing when she died. That night before we went to bed, my wife was tidying up and put the box at the far side of her computer table, with my iPod underneath sitting on top of the computer. When we woke up the iPod was balanced on top of the jewelry box.

I'll write more later on, I have quite a few and I don't care if anyone thinks I'm an idiot or not. I know what I see/saw/heard/experienced.

23-06-2006 18:52:13

Yep i know I'm bumping this to the top and yes I am superstitious...I've had too many weird things go down. Some I believe the mind creates, some I can't explain.

I tried the board once...ONCE. Nothing happened I didn't trust other people being involved and not moving the thing their own way in an attempt to freak me out. As a result it was a bust and yet I didn't sleep at all that night.

I also once participated in a seance (? spelling). Really stupid, I know (older girls have that affect on you.) About 7 of us were sitting at a table holding hands. The oldest girl called on Dr. Jekyl and Mr. Hyde (lol) I thought fairy tale creatures couldn't have spirits (lol). Yet, within a few minutes of calling an angry wind attacked the room and the curtains blew straight up in the air as a cold feeling filled our part of the house. This could have been explained by the fact that we were in Philadelphia during the height of winter, but nobody remembered opening the window and afterwards nobody that I can remember checked to see if it was opened, because.............while we were all jumping and freaking about the curtains and the chill, the youngest girl (the oldest girl's sister who shouldn't have even been there at about 7 years old) starting hollering and running around in true agony (or so it looked on her face) she then attacked one of the other kids at the table clawing at his face, drawing blood, and screaming something I didn't understand. She then started tearing at herself (again drawing blood), and when we tried to stop her she started attacking us with the strength that a 7 year old shouldn't have had. I don't exactly remember how it ended (I was too busy cleaning my pants I guess.)

Later the older girl said she had talked to spirits before and this one was an evil one, but I never got over why she tried to call Dr. Jekyl and Mr. Hyde. The fact that she used those two names is the only thing that has allowed me to maintain my sanity when thinking about the incident.

I use to be a racer. I had a supped up '67 Mustang convertible and was crazy with it. I would race anything and kept it on top of its game. One night, late, I was going home. Car was running fine and fast. All of a sudden my headlights started flickering. I was like oh well looks like I'll be putting on an alternator in the morning. I drove about a 1/2 mile down the road and, just as I approached a sharp curve, the lights suddenly went totally out. Slightly into the curve I pulled to the side of the road. As I grabbed the door handle to get out, I looked up and saw headlights spinning in my lane. The van then spun off the road on my side, tried to correct and started spinning in my lane again, then ran off on his side, corrected again and spun through my lane back off my side of the road, and finally ended up back on his side of the road about 75' down an enbankment against a tree about 10 feet from a lake. I thought S#%li.

I ran down to help him. He was fine and very drunk.

Anyway when I got back in my car (I can't remember if I left it running or not) I was shaking badly and my only thought was to get home. About the only think I can remember is saying a prayer and reaching for the headlight switch.....................

This is the part that has always remained with me.....................

The headlights came on and I didn't have any immediate problems with the headlights again that I can remember. Now if I turned the car off maybe the battery had time to regain some charge, but if I turned it off how could a drained battery not only crank the car but power the lights (and remember this car was hot and pulled a LOT of amperage to crank.) I don't know how or why but it has always remained with me...what if the lights had stayed lit and I had never pulled over.

Make your own decisions..............

Now see that's the kinda thing that makes me, not so much belive in Ghosts or the Paranormal, but moreso in a Higher Power or someone watching over us. And I'm not the most religious kinda person.

That's the kinda thing that happens a lot and to alot of different people.

Personally, I believe that everything happens for a reason, regardless of how small and insignificant it may be (or seem to be), and the fact that your lights didn't work just that once, pretty much saved your life.

I got a strange Ouija board story too. I am barely drunk enough to share the details. Here's the gist

I had a half-brother that died when he was 13, before I was even born. I never really knew much about him. One day a friend and I asked the Ouija board what year my brother died. "1968," it said.

I ran upstairs and asked my mom when he died. She told me it was 1968.

So I went back downstairs. I thought I'd ask it something stupid, like what brand boxers I had on. I never paid attention to that stuff, so I figured it was foolproof.

I expected it to say "Hanes," but it said "Gap." And it was right.

I was pretty freaked out by then, and so was my friend. So we told my brother to go in my father's office, pick a random TV channel, and stick with it. We were going to ask the Ouija board what he was watching, then see if it was accurate.

So he closed the door and picked a channel. We went back to the Ouija board, which told us he was watching channel 25. I didn't watch a ton of TV, but I thought that was pretty stupid, because I was pretty sure that channel 25 was nothing but snow.

A bit disappointed, we knocked on the door and told my brother it was a bust. "It said you were watching channel 25," I said, "which isn't even a real channel."

He half-smiled, half studied my face to see if I was kidding.

"That's what I was watching," he said. I looked at the screen showing nothing but snow and saw that he was serious.

Anyway, that's my silly adolescent Ouija board story. It was probably all sub-conscious, but it had us reasonably spooked. For what it's worth, the "specter" we purportedly spoke with was named "Daveth." I asked again and again "he" was sure it wasn't "David," but we continually got "Daveth."

That's freaky.

We used to have a bunch of freaky ghost shit happen at our old house.

Just after my mum died, maybe a couple of weeks after I got back from Scotland, my wife and I could both "smell" my mum, her smell. This is nothing subconsious because we'd both smell it at exactly the same time, both doing something different but in the same room.

Also, I used to go and come back from Scotland quite a bit and I'd just leave all my clothes in the suitcase and shit. All my dirty clothes I would put in a big black binbag, then carry them all down to the basement to be washed. One day, I take the bag full of clothes down to get washed, put them in the washer, leave them and then go back about an hour later, pull them all out into the bag and take it back upstairs. WHen I start going through them and sorting them, every single one of my socks are missing. Literally. I searched everywhere they could possibly be and couldn't find them so I had to buy more. The bag was emptied, the washer and dryer were checked, behind doors, under beds, tables and chairs, behind and inside boxes. Nothing.

About 3 days before leaving to go back to Scotland, I'm packing my suitcase and go start going through the black bag to wash the clothes that need washed, every single one of my socks were in there, as if they'd never gone anywhere and like they'd just been washed/dried. There was a space of a couple of weeks between them going missing and reappearing and they still smelled clean.

About two monthsd ago my wife was sitting at the computer and she had a small, crystal bowl of Jello next to her. THe bowl just exploded and shattered everywhere. Big chunks down to wee baby chunks were all over one corner of the room, but she didn't get touched at all. It hadn't fallen as it wasn't up on top of anything high or next to anything hot, it literally just exploded.

I got to eat the Jello off of the floor though so it wasn't all bad.

I haven't really experienced any ghost encounters, but my mom has. She said one time when she was little she woke up in bed. She has many brothers/sisters, but everyone else is asleep (I hate when that happens )) She saw three figures standing at her door. That would just scare the shit out of me lishiversli

Also, my mom had a phone in her room with a speakerphone. Every once in a while the speakerphone would just blast the dial tone at full volume. You could hear it all the way outside. We'd have to go and shut it off. It happened randomly. It was really spooky especially when I was by myself in the house. I was reading, the house totally quiet, then all of a sudden it went off shock
